Davy Jones R.I.P

A part of my childhood is gone. I watched the reruns as a kid all the time.

Last summer I saw the Monkees in concert in Milwaukee. At the time more dates were to follow. But those where cancelled from reports that the band did not approve of it with their management and/or disagreements with Davy, Micky and Peter. I thought I MIGHT have seen the last ever Monkees concert.....

Now I know I really did.

Just heard about this. It royally sucks. Davy was a decent, down-to-earth guy. As an 11- and 12-year-old kid I was exposed to the Monkees for the first time when MTV revived their old sixties show and the band reunited to go on tour. They might have been a manufactured pop group, but they were awesome.

:(

One of Davy's shining moments.

Oh my GOD; I was a HUGE Monkees fan when I was a kid. This is such sad news and he was still much too young to die. How awful. :(

Agreed...66 is too young. But he's forever frozen in my mind as a cherubic twentysomething so realizing he was almost seventy years old was a reminder of just how long ago the sixties were.

God, I'm so sad over this...I was just talking about the Monkees with my mom the other day....Rest In Peace Davy!!

I remember waking up extra early to catch the Monkees on Saturday mornings.
Davey will be fondly remembered for a long time.
RIP

Appropriate that we're talking about this on a TREK board. Davy was, after all, the key inspiration for putting Pavel Chekov on the original show. Screw all that "the Russians were in space first" P.R. crap...it was Davy and the Monkees that helped give us our favorite Enterprise navigator.

Sad to hear this. As a child of the 70's and 80's he was a big part of my tv watching world.

Damn. :(66 is too young to die.

Is it really though?? I used to think that but as I get older I am beginning to realize that 50% of males seem to die before their 70's.
