David Tennant leaves DW after the specials

I'm sad to see him go, and I wish him all the best for the future.

Now comes all the press specualtion as to who will replace him! He'll be a tough act to follow.....

I wonder if we'll get an explanation to the whole River Song thing in the specials, now that Tennant is leaving...

[Jack Bauer voice]DAMN IT![/jack Bauer voice) :scream:

*Sigh*. The ways things are going, the Doctor's going to run out of regenerations pretty freakin' soon.

Ah well. Life goes on.

I have a feeling they'll disregard the regenerations limit. But I wonder, too, how River Song will fit into this. Maybe we won't see a regeneration at the end of the last special and just see a new Doctor in the first episode of series 5. Or we'll jump ahead in time in the specials.

A sad day.

He did announce it live on TV and then run off to kill the king of Belgium though. I love that man.

Sad as I am that Tennant is leaving, I'm glad that he's doing it before season 5 starts and not in the middle or anything like that like some rumors I read suggested. It's a clean slate for reals!

This sure is a downer. I was at least hoping Tennant would stick with it for Moffat's first season, and then step aside. Oh well, it's been a hell of a ride, and Tennant's been one hell of a Doctor.

So, do you think they'll show him regenerate into the next guy, or just start the 2010 season with the Eleventh Doctor already regenerated?

I wonder how much of this will impact on the chirstmas special the "next" doctor.

Maybe the title is truer than we thought.

It would be unique for a multiple doctor story to feature a doctor he hasnt regenerated into yet, but really will.

Though I still have my doubts that that guy is the real Eleventh Doctor, I admit it would be cool, and a different twist on the multi-Doctor scenario.

Aww. I was hoping he'd stay long enough to beat Tom Baker's record! Oh well.

Here's hoping the next Doctor actor is a bit older and more in the Eccleston mold.

Not in the slightest.

2010 will be back to Page One again with a new Doctor and Companion cast by Moffat. (Chiwetel Ejiofor and Natalie Mendoza in my dream world.)

They come and they go.

Well done Perfect Ten. You were a wonder to behold.

Here's to the 11th Doctor! :techman:

I doubt they'll even decide on Doc 11 until Spring - shooting on season 5 doesn't start till July/August

Not a great surprise to be honest - in fact I'd have been more surprised if he'd come back for Season 5 after going off to work at the RSC. Good luck to him - he did a damned good job  It'll be interesting to see how Moffat handles things now he'll start with a completely blank canvas (as it were).

Oh my, I just heard the news and I'm sitting here almost in tears. I'm so sad to see him go... it's going to be a tough act to follow.

He was the perfect ten.

Meanwhile, you can bet that the circumstances of the regeneration will be kept very secret indeed, I only hope it's not the damn daleks again.
