David R. George III' s two 2012 novels

If there is one wish I have for 2012 Trek Lit, is David writing more DS9. I've loved his work on that show sofar (yes, even RBoE, which I think is very good) and can't wait to see him do more.

I enjoy reading his books even when I'm not a fan of the story. He has a pleasant style. I too hope for more DS9 because I think he has a direction or plan for Sisko and I'd like to see what it is. I believe he will also now put forth a concentrated effort to help us understand and agree with the route the RBoE took.

I hope DRG will write about Sisko to geting t his act together asap.i was really unhappy at How Sisko's character was written and Handled in rough beasts of the Empire.

As someone has no problem with Sisko's actions in RBoE I'm also really hoping DRGIII is doing more DS9 either before or after Typhon Pact. As soon as I finish the book I'll get into why I don't have a problem with Sisko's actions in the review thread.

I thought the best parts of RBoE were the Romulan political material. I could use more of that intrigue, laying the foundation for the eventual Hobus explosion and its reprucussions for the empire.

Having enjoyed all of his books thus far (as well as meeting him on a couple of occasions and finding him to be a nice guy and a true gentleman), I can safely say that I don't care what corner of the Trek universe David is writing in--I'll be buying.

^This. I also really dig DRGIII's work and will welcome anything he produces for the treklit line into my collection :techman:

same here.

I think DRG is a good writer. I really enjoyed his Serpents among the Ruins, but I disliked RoBE. I hated his portrayal of Sisko, and none of the explanations of what or why, by DRG or his supporters, have changed my mind. I also thought RoBE was too disjointed. It wasn't a shining moment for Spock either.

I do hope that one of DRG's upcoming books corrects (my opinion) what RoBE did to Sisko. Though whereas I rushed out to buy RoBE, I'm going to be much more cautious next time around. I'll probably check these boards to see if the book is worth my money or time first.

I hope that his novels explore the conflict with the Ascendents and the other events that took place on DS9 between The Soul Key and RBoE. Given what he wrote about Sisko, Kira, and Vaughn in RBoE, he seems to have a pretty good idea in place of what shape thoe events took (assuming that it wasn't an editorial decision). Although I'd also like to see Sisko's story from RBoE move forward. Perhaps we could have both in the same novels.

I'd love to see him write more books about the crew of the Enterprise-B. In Serpents I think he wrote one of the most romantic lines in all of Trek Lit

"Will you marry me?"

"Yes."

"When?"

"Every day." :)

DRG was the panel at the "Future of the Typhon Pact" panel at Shore Leave. He announced that his two books are a two parter continuing the storyline of the Typhon Pact. He was unable to confirm or deny the appearance of any DS9 characters, but I kind of got the impression...
He did very kindly read us the first two pages of book one:techman:
On a side note. DRG hung out with a couple of us after the panel and chatted about his books and writing in general. He was very generous with his time and from the hints he let slip I very much look forward to his books.
