David Mack is GUSHING about it...this should settle it

I hope David Mack does a better job of selling me on the characters in Desperate Hours than Discovery did with the pilot. My copy showed up today.

His last book, while having its plus sides, leant me towards not exactly having faith in his recommendation.
The pilot did resemble a Mack novel, in so far as a character I liked did not survive, and it was full of references that brought a wry smile of enjoyment while at the same time I wondered if they were a good idea. It also featured a two people outnumbered shoot-out and unnecessary new origins being uncovered, some of which worked sort of some of which didn’t. I also found the political figures unnecessary, though unlike a novel, I could at least say I liked the visual even if it seemed wrong somehow.
Oh.
And a literal shadowy figures scene. They occasionally show up.

It was a very Mack like story. There’s even an opening in some sand like Destiny.

If the pilot was reminiscent of Mack's writing, then I'm not going to bother reading the novel.

You may now join me in the cry of ‘oh for fecks sake neville’ that I never expected to get use outside of watching Face Off. It will now become more common, as indeed will be wondering what Glenn is thinking this week.
You really have to wonder what they were thinking there?

I mean if someone showed up with a makeup where the actor couldn't emote or even talk well on Face Off they would have been off that very episode. Same with the overly shiny nature and uniform color of Klingon skin.

There’s an episode where some of the judges work in the teams, a charity special, and Neville was just awful. Fannied about in z brush, badly, for half an hour, while the others did the work.
