I've just learned that Dave passed away on March 19th. that's all I know at this time, and will update here as I learn more.

To borrow some famous words, Dave was both a true friend and a good writer. He was a generous and unflaggingly enthusiastic man, always younger in his heart than in years, and I owe him debts of kindness that can never be repaid. I will miss him very much.

I’m afraid I didn’t follow his work, but those are great episodes. I will raise a glass in his memory.

I read his novelizations of the films 'Wargames' and 'The Manhattan Project' and his original trilogy 'The UFO Conspiracy'. Interestingly (and unfortunately) the publisher of that trilogy scrambled some of the content of the second volume, much like what happened with the fotonovel of Wrath of Khan.

He was a good writer who stands out in my memory among those whose work I read in the 80s and 90s.

He will definitely be missed.

I just watched (the first half of) "Wargames" on Sunday too (I crashed out before getting back to it), and I always get what the movie shows confused with things that were contained in the novelization.

RIP

All lies - I never called myself a "trekker." But Dave knew how to tell a story.
