News Dave Filoni promoted to Executive Creative Director at Lucasfilm

Yes. Give me more half-baked, poorly thought out, badly plotted storytelling with no attention span or follow through., baking purely on blind nostalgia. Who needs interesting characters, compelling narratives and substantive themes anyway!?
I liked the Sequel Trilogy, but if I felt the same way you did, that would actually make me want to see that era explored even more. A TV show would be the perfect way to explore the era in a way that do what some people feel the movies didn't.
Any post-ST story would pretty much be the same as any post-OT story could have been, just with different characters.
If we were to get a movie or TV series set after The Rise of Skywalker, I'd rather see them jump way ahead, like a century or more and introduce a totally new set up. And this time, let's not do another Empire or anything like that, let's come up with totally new enemies for the heroes to deal with.

Dave is THE MAN. He's also the hand-picked successor to George, something that GL was searching for a long time, as Rick McCallum was never going to get it done. It is unfortunate though that as the OP stated, Filoni was not in charge in 2015.
