I haven't heard. I do know Dark Skies was for a time categorized in the "impossible to release in Region 1" category alongside The Six Million Dollar Man, Max Headroom and a few other "unreleasable" shows that have magically appeared over the last year.
As for the OP's question, I never really got into the show and stopped watching before Jeri Ryan joined. My interest was renewed because of the Seven of Nine connection, but by then it had fallen out of circulation, so I might give the show another shot on DVD.
I thought it could have outshone the X-Files given time. Sure, the retconning of history was preposterous, but it was very entertaining, and I think the show's myth arc would have had a lot more integrity.
The show was supposed to be released years ago by I think Sony. However in typically Sony fashion it went to shit. It was mainly the music rights holding it up.
However the show has been released just like it was aired, all the music is intact.
It's half off right now on Amazon, that's pretty damn good.
