Re: Dark Matter - new comic by Stargate writers and possible a new tv
Blood & Chrome only finished post-production in the last few weeks,
Well that's a little more encouraging. I'm almost certain given its BSG connections it'll air on Sky in some form anyway (even
The Plan was shown on TV) so I'm tenatively looking forward to it.
Syfy has been quiet on B&C for a while now but they may just be waiting to make a formal announcement on when/how it will air and then kick the promotional machine into high gear leading up to its premiere.
There has been a lot of doomsaying since Stern last commented on B&C, remarking that it wasn't yet decided if it was going to air on Syfy or the web (as originally intended), but that was before the effects work had been completed, and they are said to be spectacular.
But other than that one sentence from Stern (which was only reported in passing and perhaps not even a direct quote if I remember correctly), the reality is the project was always expected to air in 2012, recently had its VFX completed and on schedule, and Syfy is quietly showing B&C to merchandising partners behind the scenes. Plus everyone who has worked on the project or seen cuts from it is raving about it.
So it seems to me the generally negative mood surrounding the status project is largely misplaced.
I'm quite positive we will see the 2-hour movie and before too long, whether it be on Syfy, the web, or Blu-ray. I think its biggest obstacle in terms of actually going to series is the existence of Singer's BSG reboot movie project, as Universal may not want two different versions of the franchise competing for attention and potentially confusing viewers. But if it does, it will likely be like RDM's BSG, which followed the miniseries almost a year later with season one.
