Spoilers Daredevil: Born Again discussion thread

Alaqua Cox was spotted in New York while season one was filming and Scarlett Johansson was spotted in Atlanta when Spider-Man Homecoming was filming, and neither of those resulted in the speculated upon appearances. However, I'm very much hoping that it's true.

I had forgotten about Cox but I was going to mention Johansson except I couldn't recall which movie she was speculated to appear in.

On the other hand, I believe Andrew Garfield was spotted during No Way Home...

But I remain firm that this doesn't prove anything no matter how badly we want it to be true.

Oh, I agree. But still... Both of them? In New York at the same time that Kirsten Ritter just happens to be shooting Daredevil born again season 2? It certainly is tantalizing.

Anyone else hoping for a "Jessica Jones & The Daughters of the Dragon" show next? I mean I want both, but two new shows seems unlikely, so why not combine them? I honestly couldn't care less about 'Heroes for Hire'. By the end of the second season Luke's character seems to have driven himself up a cul-de-sac, while Danny always struggled to be interesting. Plus, while the actors' chemistry was okay, it wouldn't day it was enough to hang a whole show off of. Henwick & Missick on the other hand . . . (no pun intended!)

We just need to hear about spottings of Jessica Henwick, Simone Missick, and/or Rosario Dawson and then all of it would be too much of a coincidence.

Yes, yes, I'm getting ahead of myself in my greed.
Rosario is a little busy at the moment with Ahsoka season 2, so if she shows up at all in Daredevil, it'll likely be brief and towards the end of the shoot. Honestly, I wouldn't hold my breath!
Curiously, Cox isn't a fan of the bank heist.
I'm not surprised. As much as I enjoyed it, it is tonally dissonant with the rest of the show, and is perhaps the most obvious remnant of the show as it was before the rework.

Now that's a curious idea. I'm all for it if it means more any of those three great characters! :D

Yeah, yeah, go ahead and burst my bubble...

That's fair but I think it's arguable that it served a purpose even in the rework, although I concede that it still stands out because of the tonal shift.

The only Marvel Netflix of which they have always spoken well were Daredevil, Jessica Jones and practically only the first season of "The Punisher".

Iron Fist, the less you speak the better it is. Luke Cage, I remember warm reactions and I don't think people are loudly asking for another season.

The only interruptions of which the viewers were surprised and unhappy were Daredevil and (at a certain distance) Jessica Jones.

I doubt that there will now be the race to bring all the characters of the Netflix MCU back to life. It should also be remembered that the plans for Daredevil Born Again were to make a reboot. So it was certainly not thought to bring all the rest of the narrative universe back.

From Cox's POV, I think it's safe to say it's utility was fairly minimal. It didn't advance the plot, it didn't advance his character arc, or indeed even address the underlying internal conflict his character was progressing through all season long, nor did it really feature any of his usual co-stars for him to bounce off of.

Like I said, I enjoyed the episode, I'm glad we got it, but I totally get why the man himself wasn't enthused by it.

I wouldn't discount the possibility of at least a partial revival. Despite some high points, MCU has undeniably been a bit of an uneven slump overall ever since 'Endgame', and it's decision to reverse direction on the 'Daredevil' reboot to bring it more in-line with the tone and content of the old show has seemingly been universally welcomed by audiences, or so the numbers would have us believe.

When it comes to the streaming shows at least, the old Marvel Netflix shows offer a viable and proven modest budget framework to build on: low-stakes street-level heroes with stories that focus of character over spectacle. So yeah, I wouldn't be shocked to hear in a year or two that they're moving forward some new shows based around the old Defenders stable. Jessica Jones & Punisher certainly both seem like no-brainers, but they could also expand on it with things a Hawkeye/Ms Marvel team-up show, a Angela del Toro as White Tiger show, maybe even finally turn the 'Blade' project around by making it a show instead of a movie, which I think would be a better fit anyway.
