Spoilers Daredevil: Born Again discussion thread

That was pretty good teaser, no real story information yet, but it was enough to get me excited for the new season.

Foggy survived the attack and went into witness protection. That said, it's a tough sell that Matt was fooled into thinking Foggy was murdered but even the original Netflix series had bigger stretches so it wouldn't be so weird.

But if the witness protection program went into the operation knowing that they had to fool Daredevil, I can see them coming up with some sort of Stark or Rand techno babble to fool his senses.

Which I think would be an acceptable way of handling it without being to comic-y.

If they were going to bring Foggy back something like that would be the best way to do it, any of the usual comic book magic or high tech resurrections would just feel out of place. Even though it's set more solidly in the MCU with all of Iron Man suits, and magic, and aliens, the first season made it pretty clearly they're still trying to keep it more street level and grounded.

The Foggy who died is a LMD

And that would be the exact thing i was talking about when i mentioned some convoluted comic-y reason to bring someone back from a comicbook "death". Every story device you use too often diminishes in return until it becomes counterproductive, which was the case with me when this trope put me off mainstream superhero comics for good.

I understand your concern and I largely agree, but all I'm saying is using technology to only fool Matt's senses and nothing more. Foggy doesn't actually die and then goes to witness protection.

I'm not talking about Stark tech miraculously bringing Foggy back to life or that the Foggy who died was an LMD. Just that whoever puts Foggy into witness protection used Stark tech to best protect Foggy from everyone, including Matt.

Something like that would work for me, there are plenty of ways to do that kind of thing that would still fit in the grounded approach they've been taking.

That's a little more sci-fi than I would go with, but it would at least be better than full on aliens or magic.

I was joking, I'm hoping for something a little more down to Earth

So from the clip, is there some kind of high frequency sound weapon being used to mess-up Matt's hearing?

Which makes me think of that Daredevil knockoff from The Boys where Homelander just busts his eardrums.

Possible since they know Daredevils powers and possibly also deducted you can overload them. Then again could also be an accident or a nearby bomb going off.

I guess we'll find out soon enough ;)

Wouldn't make much sense if it was an accident.

The only real question is who targeting Matt. The obvious answer is Fisk, but it could also be Poindexter. Or even whoever is behind the creepy Fisk video (just because they're mocking Fisk doesn't automatically mean they're pro Daredevil).

Showrunner Dario Scardapane provided SFX Magazine (via ScreenRant) a brief description of how the second opens:

Fisk has won, the city is gradually being put under his boot and we pick up all of our major players around six months later. The Fisk administration at this point has really taken hold. At the same time, there’s a bubbling up of an underground.

New York is being transformed. Some people might call that a rebirth, some might call it decay. And the characters are being transformed by dint of huge political machinations.
