News Daniel Craig signs up for Bond 25, Christopher Nolan in talks to direct

I’ve listened to all the audiobooks and was always delighted to hear comments on how the readers were genuinely surprised by the writing. I feel Fleming doesn’t get as much credit as a writer, perhaps because the films overshadowed the novels in such a big way that few people ever give them a thought. My mom is a book snob but also huge fan of 2006 CR film, but she never read the novel until I persuaded her to. She was also surprised by how good it was.

I think it's natural to assume the books aren't that great based on the movies, but it is a shame. It's tough because on the one hand I think a lot of people who love the movies come to the books expecting the same, and then right them off as a rubbish when they aren't, then on the other hand people who think the movies are kind of a guilty pleasure just assume the books are the same.

As for MR, it did get loosely adapted already, twice in fact, by Brosnan’s GE and DAD. I know Purvis & Wade really wanted DAD to be a proper adaptation but Lee Tamahori was more fixated on the invisible cars and CGI, which P&W loathed. That’s why it’s so disjointed. All the gritty stuff like Bond being captured and going rogue clashing with all the trends of early 2000s over the top action films.

Given that George Lazenby did an audiobook narration for the Jason Love books last year, surely someone somewhere must be trying to land him to do a Bond one.

It also kind of annoys me seeing so many people who say James Bond shouldn't be white this time defaulting to 'should be black'. It's usually Americans, and I'm left wondering if they understand the ethnic makeup of the UK isn't the same as the ethnic makeup of America.
I just assume the people who say the next Bond "should be black" are just sloppily saying that to mean they should get a non-white actor. Or they haven't given up hope of Idris Elba getting the role.
Speaking of audiobooks, Jason Isaacs did one for THUNDERBALL, which only made me upset that we never got him for James Bond in the 90s.
Ooh, he would have been awesome Bond.

That's a really good point that HugeLobes brings up; according to the UK's last census, 7% of the population is Asian, whereas only 3% is Black. And let's face it, as much as Americans like to think our nation is the center of the world, only 22% of Spectre's box office came from the U.S., vs. 35-37% during the Brosnan era. They're making these for a truly global audience.

I'd still love to see Idris Elba play Bond, but I could definitely get behind Dev Patel as well.

That’s what I meant. The population of people from Asia is so much higher, especially people from India. If someone actually wants to better represent the UK, they should hire an Indian actor. This might also make them less uneasy about overseas performance. Those same people who complain about Bond being white usually imply it’s because western audiences are racist, and while I’m sure that’s a factor, the truth is filmmakers are terrified of alienating audiences in places like China, where a black leading man would not be appreciated.

As for Idris, I’m really not onboard. Nothing to do with race. He’s simply way too old at this point, and we’ve just had a tough Bond in Craig. Need to do something fresh. If you’re recasting Craig, he might work, but I think recasting Craig instead of recasting Bond would be a bad idea. Also, there’s a weird old-timey law in the UK that most people aren’t aware of, including the English. Some might call it outdated, but the truth is it’s still illegal for the same actor to play both Macavity the Mystery Cat and James Bond.

After listening to the recent CASINO ROYALE audiobook, I'd go for Dan Stevens.

There was alot of talk about Dan Stevens when it wasn't sure Craig would be back after "Spectre" and nothing was progressing for a new movie

Alot of people thought about Dan Stevens after "The Guest" came out

Although with how wide variety of movies and shows Dan Stevens seems to be going after I don't think he'd be happy being stuck with James Bond

There was also the suggestion of "Poldark's" Aidan Turner

Really??? So, the picture will open overseas meanwhile here in the US we'll have to wait when theatres re-open in 2021.

Time to digg this up again.

New trailer coming on Thursday.
I am not sold yet that it will release............you'd think they could have put an actual DATE or is it staggered across the month in different countries?

It has the US MPA rating on the poster so I it looks like they PLAN it will open in the US in November............

Yeah, unless this comes out in drive in theaters I think we're pretty screwed in CA.
