It's both funny and sad to see not only the backlash from this, but also the oversimplification and misrepresentation of what's actually happening here.

Lashana Lynch is not the "new James Bond"; she's the "new Agent 007" ... and yes, there's a significant difference.

James Bond is the name of a person; 007 is a "callsign" that is no more the exclusive property of the aforementioned person named James Bond than the codename "Green Lantern" is the property of Hal Jordan.

The backlash was sadly predictable these days. Unfortunately I predict a reverse backlash when Lashana is killed ten minutes in so Bond can get his number back. This will be Monica Bellucci all over again I fear.

I still remember the outrage over the "not my first time" scene before the release of skyfall. There are times when I think its all planned just to drum up interest in the film.

This one is kinda silly, but taking that as a good sign since I’m hoping they veer away from the dark and gritty angle.

QUATUM OF SOLACE is such a crazy title for a tent pole action adventure film that I kind of love it for that. Albeit, the actual short story of that title was really a melodrama that probably would have made a solid Benedict Cumberbatch period piece.
