Okay, I have the BIG BOX o STARGATE DVD set. Seven thousand discs.

At least half of which my DVD player refuses to recognize as discs.

DAMMIT.

Okay, who do I complain to, and how do I get this fixed? It was ordered from Amazon a few months ago, but for many reasons I only recently got around to watch... er, TRYING to watch it.

I would recommend contacting MGM. Sometimes - after the return period has ended - some of the major companies will replace your damaged discs.

I've heard there's huge problems with these complete series DVD sets. The Alias, X-Files and Stargate sets have all had problems with disk quality or the complete series box sets. Quality control for it sucks ass.

^ That's why I try to avoid the complete sets. I bought the complete Ultimate Edition James Bond series and had to replace most of the DVDs in that too.

I was going to buy the Alias and X-Files sets but once I heard about all the problems I changed my mind. I don't want to deal with the hassle.

^ To be honest I've been avoiding buying most DVD sets because of problems with returns if there are mistakes with the DVDs. Plus it seems with recent releases they love putting more glue than usual on the DVDs. My copy of Birds of Prey's 4th disk had streams of glue still attached to it.

Just talk to Amazon. They're really good about these things, even if you're past the theoretical return date.

Yeah, I'm so paranoid and OCD now that I run my discs through DVDShrink just to be sure that they work.

Definitely contact Amazon. Most companies will be willing to do at least SOMETHING for you if the goods are defective.

But, yeah, you will probably have to cough up for the postage.

What's that?
It's a program you can use to make an ISO of a DVD (you can view a preview of the disk while the program analyzes the disk, making sure it works). Just do a Google search for it.

It's worth noting that, as far as I know, it's still a Windows-only program. I still haven't seen something as simple pop up for Mac-based platforms.

Yeah that's what I did for my James Bond collection and they sent me another collection without having to send the other back!!

I got two sets for the price of one!

Amazon rocks :techman:

I wonder if it's realistic to wait for SG-1 on Blu-Ray?

(that's the actual series. I know at least one of the TV-movies - Continuum, I think - is already on BR)
