Damn... not sure if I want this to happen.

I can't really say, but she says she does. It's something I know she has to do herself, but I can be there for moral support.

AFAIK, she hasn't been arrested for anything, or gotten DUIs. She called me last Friday, she's gotten a job in a restaurant, her goal is to someday open her own restaurant. Her parents told her if she can get her act together, they would help finance it, but not until she changes dramatically for the better.

I hope she gets to do that.

Find a new girl and take her to your local police office. Ask them if they know her by name. If they say no, you'd probably already be way better off than with this girl.

Very happy I was drinking anything when I read that. It's sad but true.

As a side note, I started to tell her that today and I'm thinking she sensed it was coming and she started to have a sort of breakdown, so instead of telling her today (I know I should have instead of skirting it) I changed subjects.

Dude, that's not a breakdown, that's a realization that she can't sucker you and will have to face the consequences.

As everyone has said, moral support is one thing--having someone living in your home that, well, you've basically admitted you can't trust to not take your car out while drunk is quite another.

Me, too. Unlike ed629's girlfriend, the girl you are describing sounds like she has more potential for redemption. Good luck, and keep her away from the booze.
