Dalek head found in pond.

Gepard

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Seemingly left over from the filming of one of the old serials.

Sales executive Marc Oakland was pushing a rake around the bed of the shallow pool when he found the object with its distinctive eye stalk.
The 42-year-old said: "I'd just shifted a tree branch with my foot when I noticed something dark and round slowly coming up to the surface.
"I got the shock of my life when a Dalek head bobbed up right in front of me.
"It must have been down there for some time because it was covered in mould and water weed, and had quite a bit of damage."
Article here. I wonder if the rest of the Dalek is down there?

I think I would be totally freaked if that thing bubbled to the surface.
And then I would try to e-bay the hell out of it.

I wonder what serial it's from...

 That's freaking awesome! Yeah, the Daleks have never scared me, per se. But, if one their heads suddenly bobbed to the surface, I'd freak a little bit... :techman:

According to the article, Hampshire, which I'm guessing is close to the where the Dalek was found, was visited by the BBC for location filming during the Colin Baker era. The only Dalek story during the Colin Baker era is "Revelation of the Daleks" and the only style Daleks used on location for that story was Davros's White Daleks. So it's possible that head could've belong to one of those. Some more detailed photos would be needed to make a positive identification.

I'm watching The Dalek Invasion of Earth at the moment. This discovery must have been very reminiscent of the cliffhanger of the first part of that serial when it appears out of the water.

Well time to write this Dalek into the next season

I typically don't spook easy, but even I'd be stepping back and saying "WTH?!" if a Dalek started rising from a pond. You just know this was the last thing he was expecting. Probably bitching about life, making fun of his boss, and the next thing you know "HOLY SHIT A DALEK!"

"We've all agreed it best to keep the pond's exact location under wraps.

"The last thing we want are sci-fi fans descending on the pond frantically seraching for other Dalek parts."

Uh-huh, that won't work. Not to dedicated fans looking to recover a lost original Dalek. They'll find that pond, mark my words.

If I discovered it, I don't know whether my reaction would have been an in-universe one: Oh, shit! It's a Dalek! or a real world one: Wow! It's a Dalek!

Noooo, you do not grasp the significance...

It is a genuine remnant of the REAL Time War!

Yoouu just hought it was made for television! Nooo, it ... is... REAL!

Or so the voices in my head tell me.

Yes!

Obviously it is part of a Dalek that fell back in time from the Time War...or possibily it fell out of the Void when it broke down!!!

YOU FOOLS DON'T REALIZE THAT THE INVASION HAS PROBABLY ALREADY BEGUN!!!

WE ARE ALL DOOMED!!!

DOOMED, I SAY!!!

(We must have the same voices...)

You know what, when I was a kid I had a dream about finding a prop Dalek in a swamp...

Great story. :D

maybe the after effects of the Time War were so big that it broke down the barrier between fiction & the real world.

I wonder if its worth looking in ponds for the lost episodes?

Drain the marshland, we've got Doctor Who to search for! To hell with the water, I want my Web of Fear!!! Okay, I'd settle for Power of the Daleks if I had to...

the Web of Fear had better be a freighting accurate story, featuring a vision of a "future" society hooked on the internet, unable to live there lives without posting on Facebook or worse Twitter, the Doctor must work out why this has happened, and how he can save the human race, theres an alien invasion, and the human race are to busy blogging to notice, the Doctor must make a choice, the human race or the internet.

"All these years and I never realized we had Marco Polo in the duckpond. The wife will be thrilled."

That's it, I'm declaring war on all the duckponds of the world, one of them has to contain The Feast of Stephen! Seriously, though, did anyone ever figure out what serial it [the dalek head] came from?
