Spoilers Dahj's "mother" might be someone we know from TNG

maybe she died and never found out, was buried by everyone who loved her... ...and then maddox beamed her out of her grave.

How was he an untrustworthy dumbass? He abided the Starfleet ruling on Data as property. Data said he was intrigued by what Maddox proposed, just that he wasn't ready yet, then went on the correspond with him for at least two years.

Not to mention he remained in contact with Data, with it being implied they became friends.

EDIT: oops, you already said that

So much speculation....
My two slips of latinum..

Dahj and her sister are new beings. A new type of fully biological android. Their personalities and abilities have been shaped by Data, Lore, B-4 and Lal before them. Their "mother" just may turn out to be an aged Lal, but probably not. I'm leaning more towards her as a "virtual" mom and all of the memories associated with growing up just programs to hide her real history. Like the replicants in Bladerunner.

Maddox made them and is now on the run or captured by the "anti-synth" people. Leaning more towards captured because of the knowledge of the kidnappers. "She hasn't activated yet." "Where are the others..."

Well...according to memory alpha she would be 103 years old by STP.
So she still has 30-40 years to go as far as 24th century life spans go. Unless she died in a shuttle accident or something.

To add, I don't think Juliana Tainer will show up because I am under the impression that her being an android is something that was kept secret, even from her. She may get a small mention at best, but is treated like a sort of dead end.

I'm speculating that Maddox went on the run and is basically Soong 2.0. He may have help from Borg technology and/or Romulan Tal Shiar. His daughters are basically Cylons.

Maybe the "mom" is just a figment of Dahj's positronic imagination who she "talks to" on that holocommunicator, thinking it's a real person.
How else did she know that Dahj had gone to meet Picard, when Dahj hadn't told anybody?

Maybe an implanted tracer chip...

The scene actually didn't make the impression for me that the dialogue with her mom and the hacking of the computer bases only happened in Dahj's mind...

Now, now she could be Plant based - you know...Dahj Beyond...;)

Old technology!

SPOCK: This is not human skin tissue, Captain. It more closely resembles the cellular casting we use for wound repairs. Much finer, of course.
KIRK: I want an exact judgment, Mister Spock.
SPOCK: This is definitely a mechanical contrivance. It has the same basic cell structure as the plants here, even the trees, the grass.

Just thinking, is Juliana Tainer still alive during the Picard show's time?

If the twins mother is someone from TNG, my first choice would be her as well. 'Juliana' is designed to be so alike humans and no one knew she was an android until she had a health scare aboard the Enterprise and they had to open her up. Hence Maddox could have used her as a model to create Dahj and Soji.

However, 'Juliana' was already in her early to mid 70s when she visited Data in TNG and she was programmed to live a lifespan of regular humanoids so she would have a natural death. I think her chances of still being around some three decades later would be quite slim :confused:

That's why she said, and also I was confused about what the doctor was talking about when creating the twins. I thought she was talking about DNA or maybe I am getting confused. Are the twins, humans with positronic brains or simply androids made to feel and look so human they are basically Ron Moore Cylons?

Jason

I am having the same question about the show Emergence.....

Agreed. Her mother is probably some kind of digital avatar, programmed to respond as a human would, should Dahj or Soji ever actually need to talk to her.
The mother's appearance to Soji in episode 3 made me even more sure that it's some kind of artificial digital interface and not a real person.
