Anyway I think if the dadedalus was to be seen on screen this is pretty much what I would like to see, made by lennier1 (don't think it was finished but never saw any more of it )...

You can get a model of it in either 1/1000 or 1/650. Physical model kit that is.

Your refering to the original daedalus design or lenniers version? Curious about either but the updated version would be awesome.

Yep, that makes the most sense to me. They were probably built right around the time Starfleet realized a large number of ships built on the cheap would be more expedient than building a small number of very expensive ships. Though they went back to that again in the TNG era and started building Galaxy-class ships. When will the fools learn?

But that does bring up an interesting (historical) question... what if they had gone with this design for the Enterprise?

I really wonder if 2001's production designers would have changed the design of the Discovery so that it wouldn't look like a Star Trek copy. Kubrick would have been quite insistent that the film not be compared with a TV series because of the Discovery's design.

^^ Gotta love how that old toy pops up every once in a while even after all those years. I never got around to finishing it and with all the RL trouble and what little time I can spend on supporting the team of "Star Trek - Odyssey" the high-detail v2 is nothing but a set of sketches so far.
I´m not aware of any physical models based on my take but there´s a couple of models based on the traditional one (with varying degrees of quality).

Great pix, ain't seen it from so many angles.

Although some would say that the ship design is canon, as seen on Sisko's desk, and the name of the class is canon as mentioned on screen, but there's no canonical evidence linking that design to the class Deadalus.

When the Horizon was mentioned in TOS there was no class name mentioned for it.

^ And, by the same token, no description was provided of the Daedelus class when it was first mentioned.

It could just as easily be an NX class with a secondary hull attached.

Great job everybody.

No wonder Strange New Worlds Vol V kept the Daedalus instead of airbrushing or CGIing in the Akiraprise.

When Vol IV came out we knew what the NX-01 looked like. (The cover for VOl V was included in the book. They could have done something before printing Vol 5.)

Here's to All Good Things, and Star Trek: Legacy continuing the Daedulus rebirth. :thumbsup:
