Cynicism - Fellow cynics unite.

I'd rather start as a cynic and have my heart changed by something or someone greater than I ever imagined than start out believing in people and be hurt over and over again when they let me down.

This thread warms my cynical heart just enough to bother to reply.

Not that any of you deserve it.

The glass is half-full; the glass is half-empty.

Who gives a fuck about the glass? It's doesn't make a difference either way. Nothing ever changes. The glass is always there and nothing you do will change anything.

You bunch of idealists.

One could always add more water to it.

yeah so whats the point.

Especially since people always support the definition that's in their own best interest--the truth be damned.

There is no such thing as an universal 'truth'

There's no such things as absolutes.

Also, any effectively generated theory capable of expressing elementary arithmetic cannot be both consistent and complete. In particular, for any consistent, effectively generated formal theory that proves certain basic arithmetic truths, there is an arithmetical statement that is true, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gödel's_incompleteness_theorem#cite_note-0but not provable in the theory. [hyah!]

Ehhh, why bother. It's not like uniting is going to get us anywhere.

So true -but we'll get there faster!

Not that I think the company is worth the bother though…
The optimist sees the glass as half full; the pessimist sees the glass as half empty; the engineer sees the glass as twice as big as it has to be.
But the marketing folks say: plenty of room for upgrades.
One could always add more water to it.
What? -You think I'm made of water???

^I am indeed very frugal and my parents weren't married when I was born, but, how did you know?

(PS: luv the av -well, I mean: the Loc!)

Well, Flukie made the lights flicker for me, so he deserved the credit.

(wow....that sounds kinda wrong, doesn't it?)

Anyway...anyone who believes in the glass is a weak-minded religious zealot. There is no glass. Just live your life, and get your water where you can.

^Here's your Redshirt[TM] sir.

You see, we're all just redshirts, waiting for that stray laser beam or photon ricochet. :alienblush:
