CW preps 'Dick Grayson' series

Ugh, Hulk smash puny DC Universe! Let me guess, Robin will be played by some teenage girl friendly 25 year old who's just "dreamy".

But isn't Dick pretty young when his parents die and he becomes Robin? I don't think it would make sense to have a guy in his twenties playing Dick before he's even Robin.

Did it make sense to have a guy in his twenties playing a teenaged Clark Kent ?

A person in their twenties playing a teenager is one thing, but isn't Dick Grayson like 10 or something when he first becomes Robin. I know they'd probably change that to make him older, but then it doesn't give him much time before his parents are killed. I would imagine the best thing they could do his have him start at 10-12 and not become Robin until somewhere in his teen years.

However, irrelevant since the whole idea is bad to begin with. Who really wants to see The Graysons doing acrobatics and what else? Would they be using their acrobatics to stop criminals who always conveniently run into their show at just the right time? Would people keep telling Dick that he has a great destiny as a wink to the audience? Would anyone care?

Bleh.

Waste of time and money.

Robin is one of the least popular characters in DC history. Doing a show about him before he's even got the good mojo of being Batman's sidekick? My god, that's the stupidest idea I've ever heard.

So Dick Grayson will be a high schooler who is played by an actor in his late 20s. Fellow classmates will be Billy Cobblepot, Tony Fries, Jenna Isley and Claudia Crane, whose father is the popular science teacher Jonathan Crane who likes to do weird experiments at night. And Dick will have to fight a different toxic-victim-mutant of the week while everyone around him suffers concussions and car accidents.

But who will Dick have feelings for, but never express himself because he is an acrobat, but will instead look at for long periods of time with lots of sighing.

Police Cadet Gordon's daughter's of course.

I'm not sure how that even works with their respective ages.

Perhaps they could just go ahead and make him gay, then they could have two guys with their shirts off for the price of one to keep the audience happy.:rommie:

With a little luck, The CW will cease operations as a TV network before this show has a chance to air.

I've always liked the character of Robin, in just about every incarnation. However, I think this idea is sort of stupid. Unless they change his parents occupation to detectives or something. I mean, will they be acrobats and crime fighters?

CW should just revive the Aquaman idea. I think that had more potential. Or go with Cyborg, young Flash. Hell, even a Cassandra Cain (Batgirl) show might be kickass.

im not seeing it, dont get me wrong seeing the circus coming to town featuring the young Dick Grayson on Smallville would be ok, but I dont see this as a series.

my favourite idea is still the Smallville Justice League

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how this show could work.

They're obviously going for a recognizable character name to base a new show around, but then they will call him "DJ" instead of "Dick". I guess you can't have people going around saying dick on T.V. for forty-two minutes a week.

And since this is before he meets the Bat, it's just about the lives of a young circus acrobat and his family. Having him solve mysteries or help people on a regular basis invalidates who he becomes after meeting the Bat.

So instead it will have to be another teen drama like their Gossip Girls or 90210, with a lead character with name recognition. I don't see this ever making it to series. There's not enough concept to hang a story on.

I just tried really hard to find something about this I'd be interested in. I mean, I tend to be an optimist but...nope. I've got nothing.

So either we have a little kid as the star, or this teenage Dick will one day be the Man Wonder.

^^^^
First I also recommend the motion of a Showtime series for Wonder Woman.

Secondly. As noted there would have to be a gross reimagining of Dick Grayson for this show to work. Strictly following it "by the book" would mean watching the 10yr old equivalent of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles and I'm not convinced that circus traveling 10yr old Dick would be as fun as 10yr old Indy traveling the world with his professor lecturing dad.
Reimagined would place you in a situation where, lets say he is 14/15 and the show is a hit. It then runs for 5 years. At what point do you address Batman? If you do, or legally can, what then 19yr old young man becomes a sidekick.

FAIL

The Aquaman concept was actually good.
