Custom action-figure playsets?

kitsune

Captain
Has anyone here built their own action-figure playsets? I was thinking it would be fun to build models of the bridges of various starships someday.

Wow! two thread moves in one morning... and how many in the last year?

Punting this over to Trek Art for you!

Back OT, which figures and what set do you want to build? Size and scale will be a factor in what materials you use.

I'd like to make an Excelsior-class bridge (as it appeared in Voy: Flashback) out of wood. I don't currently have any figures.

Well, that's your starting point. Get the figures you want to use, since everything has to be scaled to them. Simple math is to assume that the average human is 72" tall, which puts a 6" tall figure at 1/12 scale, which makes construction very simple if you have blueprints of the bridge - 1 foot in the real world = 1 inch on the playset/model. Using that as a reference, the TOS Bridge for example, which is on the order of 30' wide, would be 30" wide, or about 2 1/2 feet, and somewhere in the 8" to 9" tall range.

A scale model of a runabout interior would also be very cool. But it'll be a while before I can start on any of this. I was hoping some people might post or link to pics of the models/playsets that they built.
