CSI (Vegas): Call it a Day?

I can't believe this franchise has produced more than 650 episodes. Even if the two spin-offs are cancelled this year it still has a good shot towards producing more episodes than the entirety of the Star Trek franchise on television.

Works for me, as long as I can keep writing for both! :)

I'm producing CSI: Bajor. Should I throw your name into the hat for lead writer? :)

"We've detected trace elements of congealed Founder . . . ."

It'll be awfully short, won't it?
CSI leans over body with tricorder...
"Hm. Fatal wound through the heart from a compress tetrion beam at a range of 87 centimeters. Epithelials on his knuckles show he got in a punch first [scans] - DNA comes back as one Corvis Brack, priors for armed robbery and assault, address is..."

Roll credits.

:D

Not necessarily . . . .

"My God, Jim, it's DNA, but not as we know it . . . "

I'm really liking Ted Danson on it. I didn't think I would but I really do. He brings something different to it, not a stuffed shirt like the other 2.
I thought it would be hard for me to accept no Catherine but I find that transition quite easy as well.
I think they have revived the series.

None of the CSIs have ever been must-see viewing for me...but Vegas has, for whatever reason, always been my least favorite. I guess I'm kind of opposite of the 'true fans' of this franchise, because I like NY and Miami (in that order) better than Vegas.

And I actually like Lawrence Fishburne more than Peterson.

I have not seen a Ted Danson episode yet...but I bet I'd like him in this show - I've always liked him in general.

I'm MUCH more a fan of NCIS and NCIS:LA, both of which are must-see viewing for me (have my DVR set to auto-record them even).

I really like, for the most part, CSI: Vegas and NCIS, fairly fond of CSI: NY (it's genuinely improved in its recent seasons), but rather meh/indifferent towards to what little I've seen of NCIS: LA (even more unrealistic set up than its parent show; bland cast except Linda Hunt) and CSI: Miami (also stretching credibility more than its parent show; silly, egotistical leading character/actor).

And the L&O shows come across as competent but seem a bit too grey in tone (I think CSI: NY had a rocky start because it tried to emulate L&O) and have that silly bong sound. And they were at the height of their popularity a bit before my time.

Looking at the Channel 5 previews I'm begining to warm up to Ted Danson after some misgivings (more related to the scripting repetitiveness and overly prolonged lifespan of CSI: Vegas in the last few seasons, than its cast changes).

I really didn't like the Grissom character. I caught the episode on thursday and really liked the new cast members.

Danson's good. Shue appears to be shaping us as interesting. But every scene with Danson and Shue has been way too cutesy about their shared past. If it's that interesting, share. If it's not, shut up. I must admit I'm not liking Danson as much as I like Fishburne, until they turned him into a killer, which was not only stupid but way too reminiscent of Liev Schreiber's stint.

Plus it was obvious from the beginning that Schreiber had issues. Sometimes not doing the obvious is a huge mistake because it's not believable that the inevitable somehow, inexplicably, was evited. Fishburne's Ray was obviously a fundamentally decent character and turning him into a murderer was just not right.

Ray Langston snapped with that serial killer from Sesame Street, but what about Jethro Gibbs, the vigilante sniper?!

Ted Danson fits in better than Fishburne (who would've worked better as a re-occurring guest star), but the episode he was introduced in had a weak B plot, but it was just the first episode.
