crazy missions

BlackFire3

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
throughout the series there was more than one occasion where the mission was solved by unusual means (like the second encounter with Mudd and his androids) i'm curious as to what the crews from the other series would do in their situation. would they fail or somehow come to the same conclusion as the tos crew.
any thoughts?

Sounds like fun, but give us a specific mission. Also, for those of us with not-so-great memories, give us how the original crew did it.

How about "A Piece of the Action," where Kirk resolved the situation on Iotia by putting on a tough-guy act and out-gangstering the gangsters?

in the second encounter with Mudd. his androids were forcing the crew to beam down to the planet. to leave, kirk and his senior staff did rediculas things to overload the androids logic circuits. such as 'killing' their crew by pointing thier hands like a gun, dancing to non-existent music and a paradoxal statement (if i'm lying and say that i lie then how can that be the truth?)

Discovering that lecturing them on not needing money to have a good life wasn't getting any results, Picard slipped into Dixon Hill-mode and out-gangstered the gangsters.

If the Voyager crew had encountered the Iotians...? Would be a fun fanfic to read, seeing as how Bela Oxmyx couldn't possibly seriously believe that a "dame" or a "doll" could be a Captain. So it would have to be Tom Paris out-gangstering the gangsters, Tuvok doing everything Spock did, and Harry Kim forgetting his communicator behind in Bela's office. To seal the deal, Janeway would have to go out on a date with Oxmyx.

I can see Picard being a little late to the party, getting dragged off the ship to join the rest of the away team already on the planet. Riker and Data having observed the androids' behavior need to convince him to go with their plan, until suddenly Picard agrees to "bow to the absurd" He would go into full theatrical Shakespeare mode, performing a scene with Bev.

Data would take on Spock's illogical act, and as the androids start deactivating around him would let out a curious "Hmm..."

Geordi and Worf would handle the invisible explosive of course, and Troi would be enamored with the idea of an android body for herself.

"You say resistance is futile, but you are resisting my attempts to make out with your queen. You have broken your prime directive and you must be destroyed!"

Geez, it's a good thing the computers never tried that move on Kirk, isn't it?
