Crazy Cat Lady Status - How Many Cats To Qualify?

I thought I had a thread on this a while back but I have made a search and cannot find such a thread (so maybe I only thought about starting such a thread).

How many cats do you think a woman has to have before she qualifies? Does a woman's age or marital status makes a difference?

I thought the best way to determine this important question is to have a poll.

PS count shouldn't include little kittens that will eventually be given away/sold.

Am I the only one who feels sorry for the Simpsons' Crazy Cat Lady ?

4 or more would do it. That and some incohenrent babbling, followed by a cat-launching weapon, will assure your spot in the looney bin. Also, having a house that smells of cat urine and shit (with either of those being on the floor at any given time), will also be a safe move to be crazy. It'll also drive friends away, which will make you more & more hermit like until you do go crazy.

Ultimately you want to reach the goal where the police find you deal with 20 cats, who are eating you because they ran out of food days ago.

I have three cats at the moment. I was very happy with just having two but some people in our street moved out abandoning their cat and the cat hung around a few different neighbours for food. When I knew I was moving myself I asked the other neighbours if they wanted the cat but they all declined so I brought him to the new house with me.

I don't think I am a Crazy Cat Lady and I have no intentions of getting any new cats. I had the stray cat desexed once I owned him and the other two cats were desexed as kittens.

As a child I lived for a few years on a farm with my grandparents, they kept around a dozen cats for pest/rodent control but had no particular attachment to them. They weren't allowed inside the house, rather they roamed the grounds as assassins.

I wouldn't mind owning a cat one day. Just one.

Up until 6 you're a "cat enthusiast." Beyond that you may have some issues.

As far as age and marital status go? I think it's understandable that the older and the more single you are you'd want some kind of live company. So no, I thought earlier that it mattered but after giving it some thought I think you can add a cat for every five years over 60 and that's acceptable.

My aunt is 55 and I love her dearly but she has 7 cats so I can never visit her because I'm very allergic and I'm just a dog guy.

We had at least a dozen Somali cats when I was a child... we had one to begin with, but then it had children, then they had children. I spent most of my days playing with them. My grandma used to feed them all, even though we could ill afford it. What I wouldn't give for just one kitten now. *Sigh*

I had three black cats named Thursday the mom, Merlin the dude and Munchkin the tribble like blob of fluff .,, then we got tiger they all left the black kitties ahh well now tiger is off and well. I had to adopt two roaches from the apartment before the landlord found out and killed them with the rest of the roaches here. so to continue ., the roaches Alpha and Omega died from a fungus growth on them ., I should of known I would not of picked the ones that would survive the nuclear family thingies., these days I just wear the scarbe ring on my little finger to represent the "bug" world and such .,mmmm I should sleep here on the east coast soon as I do er do the next word or two.,

My friends who are dog people were saying something about that the other day and it got me thinking this too. He was like, "cat people are weird" right in front of me, I gave him a look and he's like "well you only have two." So i was wondering the same thing! I may only have two cats but I'd say some people may consider me a crazy cat person.

I said 5 or 6, but like all things in life, it depends. It depends mostly on the attitude of the owner. For example if they treat the pet like a human and cherish it above all else, even their significant others, children, or parents, or their own life, then they are going too far. It also depends on the space you live in. If you are in a one bedroom apartment with 5 cats, that's a little much. In fact that's a lot much. But if you have a large house with many bedrooms and the cats can roam outside freely, then 5 cats doesn't seem like much. My parents have 3 cats and I hardly ever notice them because they are off doing their own thing.

I really love cats, and my ideal number, were space and money not an issue, would be three.
