Crank-fun movie

Jason Statham gets poisoned and has to keep his heart pumping on a constant overload of adrenaline or die. He has to expose himself to endless amounts of sex, fear, and violence to keep going and every sort of upper he can get his hands on. The movie has some outrageous shit in it. He fucks his girlfriend in the middle of a China Town street while the crowd cheers them on and a bunch of Japanese school girls watch(in their little sailor outfits). Amy Smart is the girlfriend.

Yeah it's an over the top fun flick to watch. Saw it a couple of days ago and was surprised by how much I liked it with all the outrageous scenes, its kinetic style and editing. I found out that a sequel is to be done and actually look forward to it.

The ending is one of my favorite movie scenes of all time. Spoilers ahead... Chelios is falling from a helicopter, he knows he's a gonner, he's at peace with that and he's on the phone saying goodbye to his girlfriend. It was odd, it was eyecatching, and having Jefferson Starship's song "Miracles" playing made everything feel right. Here's the actual movie clip on YouTube.

I'm surprised they're making a sequel though. I'm reading up on that now.

Crank was that year's Transporter/Transporter 2. Superb.

I've been on a Statham run in my Netflix queue the last month.
I've see consecutively the following: Transporter, Transporter 2, The Bank Job and last night Crank. Also in '08 I saw Death Race in the theater back in April. Next is the flick with Wesley Snipes, Chaos. Was that direct to DVD?

So then Crank.

I only moderately liked this. The zanieness at times kept me from taking it serious. I can see where this concept could be tooled into a better movie. They played loose with it for whatever reason, talent or budget maybe?

Amy Smart getting taken from behind in Chinatown as everyone including a bus load of late teen/college age gals in "sailor"esque attire watch was great!

Knowing a sequel to this is coming out baffles me. I know it was zany but Chelios fell out of a helicopter from several thousand feet in the air. Hit the roof of a car and then bounced off and flew some 30-40 feet away to then hit the pavement. Ok, he did blink but I don't know how they think they can twist them into surviving a fall like that.
They would need to play it off of those rare accounts that a skydivers chute doesn't open and they survive I guess.

At any rate it was alright. I give it 2.5/4****

Chaos is next followed by War and finally In the Name of the King. I tried to catch Transporter 3 over Christmas but it had just been pulled. My luck that just as I finish 1&2 that 3 is gone from theaters.

my favourite bit in 1 is when he says 'Do I look like I've got 'cunt' written on my forehead?' and said word appears on his forehead with a little 'ding' sound effect.

Re: your spoiler...I guess I have to code my answer to avoid it being hints at your spoiler, right? But do we need to spoiler code? I mean the movie is 2 years old.

However my 2 questions would be this: 1)Hadn't the Chinese synthetic bonded itself molecularly? He'd need a whole body blood transfusion would he not? 2)would he not need a new spine after that fall, let alone new heart?

I love this movie. It's like a modern Grindhouse movie. Easily one of the best action/comedy's I've seen. My favorite quote? "Time to kick some BLACK ASS!"
