Crafting a shared DC "filmic" universe

I'd enjoy that too. Have wonder about the line up though. Characters like Robin, Superboy and Wonder Girl might be on a "no go" list.

Robin & Wonder Girl would have to be a go...maybe bring in Kara(Supergirl) instead of Superboy.

I've have a tradition line up if I could...if there were character embargo of any sort then I'd not bother making one if I couldn't have the founders and I'd have the original founders too. Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Robin, and Aqualad then add Cyborg and Starfire by the end of the film and set up a sequel. Honestly I think a live action Teen Titans show would work better than a film adaption.

Is there a budget big enough for such a cast (plus SFX)? If your title is the LEGION of Super-Heroes you cant do a movie about five guys. ;)

People don't want Superman and Batman in the JL movie, but they want Wonder Woman? What her and not them?

Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman & Martian Manhunter or no movie.

Batman could be replaced by Green Arrow...but no Superman!?

It's not that we don't want Superman and Batman, it's that we understand the logic of leaving them out when they already have their own strongly established solo film franchises. Wonder Woman, on the other hand, is a character who, to the best of my knowledge, has literally never been in a theatrically released motion picture. She's long overdue for the big screen, whether in a solo film or as one of the leads in a JL film. And leaving the big guns of Superman and Batman out of a JL film would allow the other characters, including Wonder Woman, to be served better in such a film.

Doing a JL film without The Man of Steel and The Dark Knight also solves the problem of risking stepping on people's toes, literally or figurately, by having multiple versions of one or both of those two characters existing in filmic franchises at the same time.

I don't personally think Superman needs to be left out of a JL film because, as I said in my original post, I think the opportunity is there to sort of steer the development of the forthcoming Nolan-produced Man of Steel film in the direction of eventually having the character of Superman as featured in that film be part of a JL movie.

And honestly, what's the JLA without them?
A group of superpowerful, highly capable individuals? There aren't really any major holes in a team consisting of Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, the Flash, and Aquaman (and maybe Green Arrow) that Superman or Batman absolutely must be there to fill.

I'd still rather see a Justice League with them than without them, though. But if this is the best way for WB/DC to do a JL film without stepping on the Big Two's toes, then I'm cool with it.

The Justice League has had versions without Batman and Superman...JLI comes to mind which I think Christopher has brought up in this thread or another thread I can't recall now. The League now has Batman (Dick Grayson) Supergirl and Troia (Donna Troy). Christopher explained it perfectly regarding why people would see Wonder Woman and not Batman and Superman in a film League.

Unsubstantiated internet rumor of the day:

The Justice League is a go... with Green Lantern, Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter.... and no Batman or Superman.

Flash and Green Lantern will already have their own movies out before Justice League.
This item at comicbookmovie.com (as usual) doesn't give the name of a single source at the studio. I'll believe it when Hero Complex at The Los Angeles Times reports the same thing.

At any rate, the studio might be taking a big financial risk if they leave Superman and Batman out of the film. The two heroes are too well associated with the JLA.

I may have posted it in this very thread, but if you cast Batman and Superman with older actors than whoever are in the Nolan movies, you can make them the JLA founders, make no connections to the Nolan movies, and that should be enough to separate JLA from these other movies, shouldn't it?
