Course: Oblivion

One major problem with "Course: Oblivion" is that it's a gratuitous and unnecessary sequel. "Demon" was pretty good, and its ending with the biomimetic copies of the whole crew surrounding Voyager as it lifts off is one of this series' memorable scenes. It wasn't necessary to cheapen that moment in order to tell a story of no consequence.

Further, the biomimetic copies in "C:O" don't even make decisions that are are true to the real characters, and that is perhaps its biggest problem. About all there is to get out of "C:O" is that the copies weren't perfect, which is hardly a surprise.

Are you kidding? "Demon" is one of the most abysmal episodes in all of Star Trek, "Course: Oblivion" actually managed to do something really special out of it is amazing.

While I found the execution of the episode fairly average, the concept really elevates it to one of the most memorable episodes and an episode I feel that Voyager as a series could be very proud of. In fact it encapsulates what I love about Voyager. Sure it infuriates me that Voyager didn't live up to its concept and had little attempt at continuity but I love all the crazy story concepts they explored and often did really quite well on an episodic basis.

All hippy hugs and shit, we gave birth to a new species who us... That's a lot of Top Secret Federation logistics and technology between their ears which could end being used for no good.

It's almost like there should be a rule about giving proprietary technology to idiots who do not know how to invent their own technology.

On the whole, I've always rather liked Course: Oblivion; it was one of the few episode that lived up to Brannon Braga's ambition of having Voyager be a bit like The Twilight Zone, able to take you by surprise.

I liked it a lot too, but wish they'd waited a bit longer for the big reveal (not-B'Lanna deliquescing).

I finally decided to watch this one since its first airing. It is a big pill for me to swallow as is but I must agree the reveal was too soon and it turned into watching them go one bye one where I sit thinking .s it over yet? I'm not sure if it's just my adoration of Janeway but omg I tear up yet again for her death scene. Ethan Phillips nailed it with the pathos. His expression...wow...

Yes, the reveal is too soon. As soon as they mention silver blood, it's out of the bag, and the audience can guess how it's going to end, if they still have any interest in the false characters.
