Course: Oblivion

They had 2.5 up there, but it cost more than 2.0, and I'd already selected VOY Season 4 which cost more than the BSG Season 2's put together. Just not enough money to get what I wanted this month.

I think the half seasons was a rush to get money to help keep making the series while they were on the air.

Later, in the afterglow of critical acclaim, after the sets were scrapped and actors were let go, entire seasons were made... Not forgetting that global releases could have completely different plans if you remember that Regions drive Chinese walls down between the distributors.

There's another BSG movie set between and on top of the episodes for most of season one and two showing the Cylon perspective of everything that happened.

Shhhh.... But there are reasons not to watch that till much later.

Yeah. Seriously DON'T WATCH IT. Spoiler hell.

Until it's all over and you're in serious withdrawal and will watch ANYTHING in that universe. That's how Caprica achieved its massive success.

What was that?

There was an episode of No Ordinary Family (Amanda Rosewater as a mommy super hero with superhero children.) where the nerd girl tech support, talks about how her most beloved valuables are stored safely in a fire proof safe, including a signed photograph of President Rosiland.

You know, I did see the first episode of Caprica on Hulu. Since I knew nothing of NuBSG at the time, for some foolish reason I thought perhaps I could understand what as happening in Caprica. But no, it makes the mistake of assuming you're already familiar with the premise, so nothing's explained to a newcomer.

Caprica is set 50 years before BSG and it was supposed to be about the invention of killer robots.

It was weird and disjoint from the history we were expecting.

You never saw the original Battlestar Galactica in the 70s?

Admiral Kane was played by Lloyd Bridges.

Pegasus was came first.

Then Equinox.

Then Pegasus again.

Shit, his kid the Dude was old last night in The Giver.

I could see him struggling not to say "Darn tarnation varmit!"

Yeah, I saw the original Battlestar first. That's why I have so much trouble with the changes to the Cylons. NuBSG seems more concerned with their new origin for the Cylons than it does the humans trying to escape them.

You recognize that Tom Zerek the terrorist in Nu BSG was the Original Apollo in TOS?

Sure you do.

But heres the hilarious bit.

When the original Starbuck, Dirk Benedict, heard that his iconic character was now being played by a girl, he said to most probably the press, since I know about it, "That something had been lost in castration" which is fricking hilarious, but Katee Sackoff drew a line in the sand promising that she would quit if that man took one step onto the set.

:)

"Drama!"

This is not about money.

It's about always being nice to pretty blonde girls.

(That, and Katee could probably kick his ass.)

Dirk has one of those Cary Grant faces. Impossibly good looking, almost a physical caricature of The Handsome Guy. Richard Denning was another. Lyle Waggoner, announcer for Carol Burnett show, looked like the little man on a wedding cake in his tux. A more recent example is George Clooney. Some of these guys could actually play believable characters.
