Countdown #3 official review thread [Spoilers]

Request: Someone who has the Countdown comic, scan the images of the ships (new ones of course, not the Enterprise E) and release them all in a zip folder.

Please and thanks.

Nero is a Miner, not a Scientist or a General, so he may consider it impossible to go back in time until something happens.

His trip back in time, although calculated and planned, is not entirely based on rational thought. It's based on grief and rage.
We don't even know if this is the case. It could just as well be an accidental byproduct of something else (I suppose issue #4 might resolve the question, though).

I do hope, though, that anyone so doing would be wise enough to resist the temptation to post a link to it here.

Actually, there are a couple of people over at Trekmovie who have received via mail their copy of Countdown Trade Paperback.

And what they have said is that Nero's and Spock's travel back in time is accidental.
They've also said that the ending is not really a cliffhanger and that the only thing that was left hanging was Worf's fate.

I guess we'll find out for sure in a few days.

It's fascinating how divided I feel about this series up till now.

I love the Romulus and Nero stuff, and find the resurrected Data, Ambassador Picard, and shaggy Klingon captain Worf to just be silly and inferior in every way to that which has been set forward in the books. Yes, I know it's several years off from the novels' current timeframe.. but I don't see these characters getting from here to there in a believable way in the time allowed. Which is coloring my interest in ST: Online now as well, as they are going off on a very odd and fan-fic sounding direction in regards to several things. Their timeline is just stupid, and although I'll likely play it, it's firmly in "myriad universes" territory for me.

phrog, first let me say I don't know anything about STO, I haven't followed that in any way. You probably have info on the characters I do not but let me respond anyway, it might help you to see a different perspective.

Have have you considered how much the characters changed during the first 7 years, during the series? That's about the same amount of time between NEM and Countdown, correct? Thinking that way, do you now get a better sense of how they could grow and change during the 7-8 years since NEM? It really is a long time, imo.

I hope I helped you see it differently.
