Spoilers Count your holograms and smile thread

ECuH, Emergency Cuban Hologram (a cuban granny rolling havana cigars, played by Santiago Cabrera in granny clothes and make up, still unshaved though)

EMarH, Emergency Mariachi Holograms (a trio, activated when the temporary tinnitus caused by Klingon opera doesn't go away)

ESTH, Emergency Simple Tailor Hologram (when Rios needs to look dapper, played by Santiago Cabrera, in Cardassian make up for some inexplicable reason)

Oh I dunno, I think it's a clever way to have a "crew" for the ship, each with their own personality while only having to pay one actor to play them all. :D
If I remember that casting call back then it was two separate ones, one for Rios, and another for the EMH. Now I'm imagining the casting director chatting with Cabrera after the casting and Cabrera mentions, offhand, "I do accents too". And before you know it, you only need one actor ...

I do wonder how many more we’re going to get.
We’re definitely missing engineering chief, transporter chief, security, counselor?, a redshirt hologram, probably few more..

Seeing his mindset and his interest in depressing existentialist writings about how life is an inescapable tragedy, maybe he also has an Emergency Commiserating Hologram, who wears a nylon tracksuit with cracked Chinese sneakers, and is constantly smoking a cigarette while Slav-squatting with a half-empty bottle of vodka in his other hand, offering a constant stream of Dostoevsky-esque bone-dry commentary in expletive-laden Russian about how utterly miserable life and everything is.

We're missing few more regions/stereotypes

it raises too many questions about synthetic labor the series

what if it's supposed to raise those questions?

How about an emergency command hologram? Basically another Rios, but he speaks with Patrick Stewart's accent.

Perhaps Rios is the ECH? Unlikely, (shoulder wound, leaves the ship next week) but I love the idea that the dead captain referenced earlier is the real Rios. Still, the wound could be a deliberate misdirection by the ECH, and Starfleet has had plenty of time to reverse engineer the mobile emitter.

Yeah, it's an interesting theory. Previous ship deleted from history, so name of captain is not really known, nor what he looks like. The Doctor definitely experienced trauma (that episode on VOY where he had to decide which patient to let live, personally I think he made the wrong choice :D) so PTSD from which Rios seems to be suffering wouldn't be unheard of for a hologram. As an ECH, he experienced trauma, ran away from duty (thanks to his mobile emitter), posed as a human, acquired a ship somehow and became a captain for hire. I could see this spinning off into it's own series :)

IDK - Given Ep. 4 and how cavallier Rios is WRT his personal ship facing off against a (admittedly old, but still) Romulan BoP - and how his ship has it's own fully operational Holodeck to recreate Picard's Villa; I'm really starting to wonder if Rios himself is a Hologram; and Rafti set this all up for Picard (in cahoots with the Vulcan/Romulan Admiral) and SHE'S the one who's the 'plant' in Picard's group and not Anji. :vulcan::whistle:;)
