Counselor Hugh Cambridge

I like Cambridge he needs some development but ppl are slow to change and he is new so when he get closer to the crew we may see more of his development. but that being said i would not go see him as a counsellor i just don think he would be very helpful atm given what happening in his personal life with seven.
not a fan of the relationship but i never been a seven fan so.. i think its just me lol

EDIT: As for Cambridge, I like him. He's a rich character. I've never watched "House" (I watch hardly any television) so I have no familiarity with the existing character his mannerisms are apparently a nod to.

I feel the House comparisons are overstated. Cambridge has some of House's irreverence, snark, and rebelliousness, but he's far more empathetic and emotionally/socially functional, he's not a drug addict, and he's English rather than American. He's based more on Hugh Laurie in general than House in particular.

Yes, House is going to be the first thing that leaps to mind with Cambridge because it is one of Laurie's most popular characters in America. But really, from day one, I was thinking of what Laurie could do with a character like this more than just creating a Trek version of House.

I know it's going to sound odd, but for any "Sense and Sensibility" fans out there...think Mr. Palmer. There is a moment near the end of that film when most of the cast is in the Palmer family drawing room, the baby is screaming, Mrs. Palmer is prattling incessantly, and Eleanor can't tear herself away from the window because Marianne is out walking in what is about to become a torrential downpour. Mrs. Palmer is suddenly shocked to learn the distance between their house and Willouby's and when she says for the tenth time "I can't believe it," Mr. Palmer (Hugh Laurie) lowers the paper he is reading and says one word.

"Try."

Everything about that moment is Hugh Laurie as Hugh Cambridge for me. That's where it started.

I like him

This is, quite possibly, my most favorite thing on the TrekBBS ever.

I started to read about Cambridge without Hugh Laurie in mind and I keep doing so. He is a unique individual and I like his interactions with the crew, not only with Seven.

I didn't like Cambridge at first, but as I read on, I felt that he has become the "McCoy" of the fleet. Even more so:

~He says what he thinks

~Not afraid of Authority

~Dares to embrace the heretofore unembracable

~is a slob (sort a)

~Is willing to stand for what he thinks is right, though not necessarily tactically sound.

~willing to take on Seven on HER terms.

Hugh will save the day.

He is my favorite lit-only character, besides T-Ryssa Chen, they are both complex and compelling characters.

I think he's added some spice to a crew that could be at risk of getting to comfortable. Also not sure about his romance with Seven but it's interesting seeing her develop.
