I don't think the Q are scared of the Borg as such but more that Q warned his son not to provoke them or they would go apeshit on the lower races and he'd have to clean up that mess because they would have attacked other worlds by being provoked.

It's quite amazing that one off hand comment (probably intended as a humorous comment by the writer) has mushroomed into this idea that the Q are somehow afraid of the Borg.

They're not afraid..... They could turn a Borg cube into a keychain and punt it around a room... Such is their power. What they might be wary of is a Q provoking them in such a way that they have to clean up the mess they make from provoking the Borg who might attack lesser races.

A Q could snap their fingers and wipe out the collective.

Well, if the Q knew what was to come in "Destiny", perhaps they were against provoking the Borg because they didn't want to risk interfering with those events.
