Could the Borg assimilate The Founders?

S31's virus had no problem attacking founders when they were in the liquid state.

But we have no idea how, specifically, that virus worked.

The Borg, on the other hand, use well known methods of assimilation. They use nanoprobes which lock onto cells and transform them. Without cells, they won't work.

Borg nanoprobes assimilate biology AND technology. They don't need cells in order to assimilate.
Also, considering the technological distance between the federation and the borg, it's a virtual certainty the borg assimilated medical tech on par with the federation's/S31's.

PS - I see you remained with no counterarguments for ~'the founder is a rock' discussion.

Borg nanoprobes even have trouble with Denobulans. How could they possibly stand a chance against something that can just eject them at will from their "body"?

Personally if they'd make a confrontation Id rather enjoy it more if the Borg couldn't assimilate the Founders. But it would be quite a rough fight none the less. If the borg would get the technology the cardassians have to prevent them from changing.

And other then that, the Borg have lots of technology. I think the founders advantage would be the element of surprise and creativity, the borg are pretty simplistic when it comes to fights.
