Could Star Trek be Re-rebooted?

Production doesn't need to cease. They just need to take some time and figure out what's working and what isn't. For example, here are a few of my opinions (not that I work for the show or have any influence whatsoever, unless Alex Kurtzman happens to be lurking here and reading my posts):

1. Pandering to overrated actors doesn't work (i.e. Michelle Yeoh)

2. Making Star Trek productions with no redeeming value doesn't work (i.e. Section 31, Very Short Treks)

3. Turning Star Trek into a comedy doesn't work (i.e. Tawny Newsome)

4. Getting Paramount off their collective asses to actually start producing a theatrical Star Trek film doesn't work (i.e. 9 years of ad nauseam movie plots; lip-servicing fans with talk of the likes of Quentin Tarantino directing, et. al)

5. We'll see next year if turning Star Trek into a teen drama will work.

How do we know that when Tawny's show hasn't even begun filming yet?

Because the premise has already changed from a comedy set at a hotel planet to a show about a planet trying to gain admittance into the Federation, with any comedic aspects from the original premise toned down. At least, that’s the impression I got from the last time Tawny talked about it.

We haven’t seen any scripts, and plus Tawny is bound by NDA’s, so it’s not like she’s going to be able to give away the whole store.

Until we actually see footage, it’s literally too early to tell whether the concept works. You were prepared to give the teen drama genre of SFA a chance since it hasn’t aired yet, why not this series that’s even further away from production?

I’m fine giving it a chance. My point was that I didn’t think giving the Star Trek keys to Tawny in an effort to turn ST into a comedy was going to work. Which, based on what I’ve read, Tawny seems to agree with. But that’s pure speculation on my part based on my interpretation of her statement.

They don't have to please everyone, just people who like good Star Trek episodes, or would like them if they were introduced to the series as a new viewer.
Define "good" Star Trek?

Many would put City on the Edge of Forever or Best of Both Worlds as good. I'd say they are ok, at best.

If you try to please everyone, you end up with the blandest shit in the galaxy
That is the goal. Safe is the new watchword.
