Could SPIKE have yanked TNG because of the new DVD set?

Does anyone remember how, when TNG first came out on DVD, SPIKE kept running episodes with the picture squashed and an information bat at the bottom of the screen? Seems like it went on for over a year.

Do you think it's possible CBS/Paramont told Spike to yank the show until the new DVD set has sold for a while, and then maybe later it'll come back?

Seems a little funny, the show stops running on TV at the same time as a new DVD set is being released.

What do you think? Might TNG be back on Spike in six months to a year?

The original purchase of TNG was for a five year block. It was bought in 2002. It's 2007 - five years are up.

They lost the rights to it and paid over $100,000,000 originally according to the TNN press release. They may not want to pay that again.

Paramount should do a Remastered TNG like they did with TOS. If they did just as good of a job on that I'd definitely buy the DVD sets.

No point in buying what they got now.

Remastering TNG would be great, I'm for that and giving DS9 a once over too.
