I haven't seen notification of this anywhere else here, but Paula Block & Terry Erdmann recently posted this exciting Amazon link on their Facebook page:

"Star Trek: Costumes: Five Decades of Fashion from the Final Frontier" [hardcover]
http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Costumes-Decades-Frontier/dp/1608875180/

"This deluxe book will showcase the unique costumes featured in the Star Trek franchise, from Mr. Spock’s staid Starfleet uniform to Uhura’s alluring mirror universe outfit. The book will feature a dazzling wardrobe gallery that explores beautiful and innovative fashions from the various film and television versions of Star Trek, including many different iterations of the iconic Starfleet uniform, exquisitely designed alien garb, and much, much more.

"Every costume will be examined in intimate detail, tracing the design process from preproduction sketches to the final stunning outfit. Exclusive interviews with costume designers and experts will put the images into context. This unique visual treat will delight Star Trek fans and fashionistas alike."

September 2015! Goodness that's a long wait. I'll probably pick it up though - I always loved Bill Theiss's costumes on TOS, particularly from "The Cloudminders" and some of his other innovative arrangements of fabric.

Cool! I eschew behind-the-scenes works usually, but I'm totally into learning more of the various uniforms. Playing STO made me a sucker for Starfleet fashions.

Excuse me, please. I've got to mark my calendar.

I eschew behind-the-scenes works usually....

I'm the opposite. I typically seek them out. Like yourself, I'll be getting this one. I just wish that it were a bigger, coffee table sized book. The illustrations and pictures would be complimented by a larger format.

I might be willing to spend $20 - $25 on this book but not $40. No sale until it goes to the bargain bin.

Kevin

It's marked down from $60.00 to $40.65 on Amazon. I really hope this comes out in e-book form, although this is one I might be willing to get as a physical book if I have no other choice. The price is a little steep, but it's comes out close to my birthday, so I might get some extra money to spend.

I was thinking $60 might be a bit much but $40ish sounds possible. And I really would love it. . .

There are many publicity pics from 50 years of Trek that are wonderful variations on the many we've seen before. In the Afterword, the authors talk about the "Christy's" auctions (and a previous "Bonham's" auction) of 2006 and how everything in the Paramount vaults was carefully photographed before being sold off, and some of these 1000s of closeup pics are featured.

The book is beautiful, and has lots of words to read. So far, I've found some amazing things I'd never seen before, and lots of close-ups of fabrics. A few quick things that thrill me: a rare Theiss costume sketch of Gav the Tellarite, a very clear b/w pic of Vina's Orion outfit and Pike's amazing Orion trader boots, the gorgeous Ilia shots, a wonderful Neelix publicity pic I've never seen, and lots more!

Huh, I guess I didn't realize this one was going to be so pricey. Amazon.ca has it at $63.61, and Chapters/Indigo is listing it at $73.82. I might have to downgrade this one from "definite purchase" to "we'll see"....

I just looked this morning and it was still sitting at 40 bucks. Thanks for updating this. I just locked in my pre-order at 31. Pleased with that.

I hear ya. I consider myself extremely fortunate to live close to the border and am able to have a US post box. It gets a lot of use.
