Corrupted Jpeg file

Hi everyone. I have some problem when I open 2Mb jpeg file. some programs only show few lines at the top of the image while others just can't open it all (don't recognize the format and so on). Is there anything I can do? I don't have the source file (Ditigal camera) only the file itself.

It seem like part of the file is corrupted and it open only the good part of the file (while the Thumbnails view shows all the image)

Well, I'm no expert on recovering corrupted files, but I was always under the impression that a corrupted file is just that, and a new copy is required to get access to it.

I mean, whenever one gets a corrupted downloaded zip file for instance, the prompt usually tells you to redownload it, so I'd say the same thing for .jpegs.

Whenever I have that problem I have found that Irfanview actually is able to show the parts of the file that are good!

Helped a lot when a bundle of vacation shots were corrupted due to a HDD crash once!

I don't know if this helps, but I had a few jpegs that my program handled with no problem but another viewer couldn't. So they were slightly corrupted somehow. But when I opened them with MS-Paint then saved them, they were fine, even with that viewer that otherwise couldn't open them.

Even Ifranview couldn't help with this file.
Oh well... I guess the file is lost.
Thanks for your help everyone.

...next time, DO YOUR BACKUPS!

Or as my old computer prof said, "Its not a matter of IF your hard drive goes bad and corrupts your data, but WHEN...."
