I don't think the same rules apply in the case of the Air Force, or any military organization. Films are made all the time without military support, but they don't slap on fake names for the military. Independence Day is an easy example.
Oddly, Farscape went with the IASA instead of NASA because the would apparently have to approve every script of the series, which was just too complicated for the production to deal with.
