Constellation class technical manual

Re: Update time

Distinctive yet consistent with Starfleet design. I like it.
It definitely looks like a derivation of late 23rd Century bridge modules.

Hey! I like your diagrams of the bonneville flats testing grounds! I have a question though, It appears you have 2 starbase 23s in there, one in the upper portion of the map sharing a sector with the Unroth System and one near the bottom of the map near the AR-12 subspace relay. Which is the real one?

Also I'm a big fan of the Lost Era novel Serpent among the Ruins which features the Flats prominently, is this where you got the inspiration or have the flats been referenced in other sources?

Yup, the Flats did come from DRG3's novel. As do the entirety of Foxtrot Sector and Space Station KR-3, as a matter of fact.

You're right about SB23. That's a mistake I'll correct whenever I do an updated version of the display, reflecting my changed Okudagram design (and also the new colours). I think, however, that I'll also do a standard movie-era display. BTW, the real SB23 is the one near Unroth, according to my copy of Star Charts.

Glad you like it!

Re: Update!

I really enjoy the Food slots, Especially the Andorian Yutann a la Zhavey. Too great! It's kinda like if a jukebox served lunch.

My only question though is regarding the Vulcan Yutik with Gewa Eggs, Would this be something Vulcans would eat considering thier penchant for Vegitarianism? Of course no one ever accused the Vulcans of being Vegans, well unless the grew up on Vega IX...

ay, dios mio...

Mission duration of about a month, I'd say, but I haven't actually considered that issue yet.

Meanwhile, here's something new and shiny. Many of you will know it already, but I figured that, since I was going to need a few more bridge modules, I could just as well use some that already existed (another one will be based on a module made by Thomas Models). However, I've already made sketches of at least three more (original) modules that I plan on including.

That appears to be an Akyazi-style bridge module, yes? Is the entire dome surface a navigational deflector on this?

Nicely done.

Re: Update time

Yup, it's the Akyazi. I wanted some variety regarding the bridge modules, and I thought that was a good design.

Not sure about that deflector issue, though. Is it the blue colour that made you think that? I simply wanted it to be a tad more colourful ... :D

And foravalon: when I invented some dishes, I didn't think about the Vulcans' vegetarianism. However, it is quite possible that some aren't vegetarians at all. And there's also the chance that those eggs aren't real eggs at all ...

Agreed on it being an excellent alternate design. And yes, the blue surfacing kind-of threw me off as to its purpose. I guess it makes sense, as that particular series of Perimeter Action Vessels had custom coloring all over the hulls, unlike any other class of ship I've seen (save the ENT Mirror Universe)

Re: Update time

Lookin good.

We'll be shooting U.S.S. Hathaway this July... check it out if you havne't lately. We have taken some liberties with the Constellation class starship but nothing that 80 years can't account for.

Re: Update time

Thanks!

Here's a more detailed bridge module, and this is the side view of my auxiliary survey vehicle that'll be in the bow hangar.

Re: Update time

Nice! The bridge is definitely different. I'm not too sure about the layout yet, but I like the way you think outside the box.

B.J.

Re: Update time

Well, the bridge layout isn't exactly set in stone. :D

Thanks, though. Now that my holiday's coming up, I'll probably have more to show soon.

Re: Update time

Hi MichaelS
Regarding your bridge lay out I'd give more room for your crew to get to thier stations. Unless those seats auto-matically slip to the front, its a little too tight between the railing and the chairs. I can see big problems during red alerts and people attempting to get to thier stations. Keep working at it and you will come with a very nice bridge layout. Other than that keep up the great work  :D

You've given me an idea ...

Re: Update time

Looks nice...but I have to say that the 2 photo has too many colors. Maybe take out the blue buttons.

Re: Update time

Hm. I might modify the colours, but I won't get the basic blue/yellow/orange scheme since I've grown quite fond of it in the past year.

Before I leave for a week, here's yet another new image: the Constellation-class nacelles in four views. I hadn't planned to present them like that, but when I needed the stern view for my schematics, I decided to concentrate on the nacelles - this makes the stern view of the entire ship much easier since I won't have to worry about the nacelles any longer. :D They should be pretty accurate, although I'm sure there are a few mistakes here and there. Nothing too serious, though, I should think.
