Conquest Reviews

Now that Star Trek Conquest has been out for a couple of days (although I had trouble finding it at Best Buy and Toys R Us), has anyone played it and have a review? Or has anyone read any reviews?

I played it, and sad to say it is terrible. For me it was, well, really terrible. I wish, just for once, we could have an AMAZING game...how hard can it truly be? Pass on this one.

I gave it a seven out of ten...This game works for me...I like strategy games, I like Star Trek, I have 4 kids, and not alot of time to enjoy either. The campaigns go by fast enough where I can play a satisfying war out in about 90 minutes. It's fun to me personally. Though, as I said in another post, this game might have actually fared better as a portable outing (esp. on ds, just my opinion.)

I also enjoyed the hell out of it. Keep in mind that this game is only twenty bucks...so if you're expecting a deep game with amazing graphics and story....you'll be massively dissapointed.

If you're expecting a stripped down gaming experience, with a barebones piece of text setting up the game, old school graphics, and quick play....then you'll prolly be happy.

This game is not trying to be the best Trek game, just an enjoyable, easily and quickly played "stategy lite" conquer the galaxy game. I've played two campaigns and both had a cool epic feel not seen in a Trek game since BotF. And I like space based 4X games, and this lets me play one in a far shorter time, while maintaing the epic feel of such games.

The ship handling seemed better here than in Encounters (which I never finished) or my fleet is just making it possible for me to survive longer. :)

So I feel it was twenty bucks well spent. It was pretty much everything it said it was going to be so there's nothing I'm really unhappy with.

Interesting... going to have to look at some more sites for reviews as I'm looking to purchase Conquest as well. Thanks for the feedback!

I wouldn't buy it, it's not fun imo, it's a run of the mill semi strategy game that could might aswell been a Star Wars game but now they slapped star trek on it.

Don't buy!

I plan on getting it eventually. There are so many games out right now that I just don't have time to play it.

^ Really? Huh. Slow month for the PS2, or what? Welcome to the next generation I suppose. *cough* Pun not intended.

Speaking of, I wonder why they didn't review the Wii version first.

Edit: Speak of the devil...

OK, I broke down and bought it for the PS2 (for $15, it's hard to say no to any new Trek game).

After a short time with it, I'm surprisingly pleased with how much fun it is. This game is far better than it has any business being, frankly, given its budget price, complete lack of marketing and borrowing of elements from other games (graphics from Encounters, music from Legacy, etc). It's not the best Trek game of all time, but it's a surprisingly satisfying strategy/arcade combo that's worth the very modest price.

I saw it at Circuit City for $20 and actually decided a new subwoofer would be a better investment. I might go pick it up tommorow just for gits and shiggles.
