Connor's SciFi Movie Scheduled at Last

:techman: I really thought this movie was good and Connor's character reminded me of Han Solo.I really liked this movie and Connor did a great job playing Ty
This movie gave Connor a chance to show he was a good Captain and leader when it came to the mysterious Ashta and see how the mystery unfolds about her past. I really am glad Ty survived as well as Ashta. I also think the Bug planet was alot like Starship troopers
.I wouldn't mind seeing Connor play this role again.

^I had the same thought as far as Connor's character being the Han Solo type, Reanok.

There were little elements that were similar to so many other movies: Star Wars, Starship Troopers, Serenity, and obviously the parallels to Precious Cargo.

But the girl was nothing like the princess from Precious Cargo, thank goodness.

“Star Runners” was quite enjoyable.
Toni Trucks (a.k.a. T’Pol) was great.
James Kyson Lee (a.k.a. Harry Kim) was superb.
Trip (a.k.a. Trip) was outstanding.
Aja Evans (a.k.a herself--unfortunately) checked her acting at the door for this one.

A few things were off: They sat their standard weapons to overload like phasers. The military had energy weapons at the very first of the movie but standard missiles at the end. They should have put soda or something in that little tea cup: A person doesn’t handle an empty cup the way he does a cup with something in it. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the movie.

I watched the movie with my son--he wasn't as generous. When it ended, I told him I liked the movie. He said that he liked it too, in the beginning, but then the story got in the way.

I thought it was pretty good for a Skiffy movie. I'm actually friends (well, Internet friends) with the guy who wrote this movie--I've known him since before he broke into the biz--so I'm glad to see this turned out decently. He's also written a few other movies for Sci-Fi that seem to have been relatively well received.

Considering it had no plot and no real character development it was pretty good. It seemed to be written to leave the door open for a sequeal. I guess most movies are.

What bothered me was all the commercials for new SciFi Channel series comming soon, none of them with Connor. I notice that the guy that played the collector in TNG that tried to collect Data has a new series coming where he manages a collection.

The super chick was hot...I noticed her traps right away...the movie...welll I'm glad I DVRed it so I could fast forward. It was a cross between: Pitch Black, Serenity, and Ice Pirates.

RAMA

i have finally seen it. well, i found it watchable, i agree it's not the movie of the year, but it's better than some scifi channel movies i've seen. and yes, the blond girl is really hot. connor and jason lee was both believable. in fact, i was surprised by this movie, maybe because, like some of you, my expectations were very low. the bugs : well, i was not so bothered that i thought but i laughed when i saw the queen bugs (it was so ridiculous).
the SFX : good work. even if it reminded me BSG.

to sum up, a good little movie without pretention. i even think that without the bugs and a good writting work, we can imagine a show following this.

To get ready for Star Runners this weekend I watched Starship Troopers 3 last night on blueray. That may be the worst scifi movie I have ever sit through.
I didn't think it was that bad. For what it was, I thought it was fun.
Some idea of fun you have there... :vulcan:

When that Sky Marshal bloke started singing, that was my cue to press the stop button, facepalm myself, and go watch TATV just to compose myself

You want bad? Watch some of those cheapie sci-fi flicks made by the dozens back in the 1950's, like "Plan 9 From Outer Space" (bad, but a hoot to watch) or "Robot Monster" (just plain bad). Compared to those, "Starship Troopers 3" is Paddy Chayefsky.
Shouldn't you know better than to compare 1950's trash flicks with, oh I don't know... Anything?

For a Sci-Fi Channel movie this one was actually pretty good...in part because Connor was in it and channels a little Trip every now and then to add some gravitas to the story and certain scenes.

I thought the movie was somewhat better than the usual SciFi Channel movie--which is not saying a whole lot.

It was watchable, but only just. I hit the fast-forward button a few times just to get through it.

Connor, of course, was the best part of it, but it was VERY poorly written, unfocused and scattered. Still, not nearly as cringe-inducing as some of the other drivel they've put on. "Mansquito," comes to mind.....
