Confused about Sacraments of fire (spoilers)

I was going to wait until I finished the book but I can't. I just finished the first part of Sacraments of fire and I confused. I get that Kira went in time before DS9 is destroyed. The part I do not get is that she keeps referring to the Even Odds getting destroyed at Bajor and thousands of lives begin lost when the Ascendants attack Bajor. I do not remember that happening or is that what the NEXT book is about and we are just getting a recount of something we have not read yet?

After The Soul Key, the DS9 series took a timejump, to run together with the rest of the series set in the 24th century. That ment that, unfortunatly, any plans for the Ascendents story line were dropped.

In some of his novels, DRGIII has made references to the events, but no actual novels are set during those events. Sacrements of Fire, and the upcoming novel Ascendence, are both continuing the story of Deep Space 9 as it is now, and filling in what happened during the periode set after The Soul Key.

You know there's a discussion thread for this book right below this one, right?

Anyway, yes, what Kira is describing is something that happened in the time gap, and that presumably we are about to witness from her future-gone-back-in-time perspective.

EDIT: Reading Mage's comment, I realise that maybe you weren't aware of the time gap, whereas I assumed everyone would be. So yeah, what he said.

.

Thanks guys. Yeah I remember a little bit about the time jump being discussed. I am not on here as much as I once was. I did see the thread but did not want to open it so as to avoid and spoilers . Sorry for the double post.
