Like what? I for one would love to see Jolene Blalock's cameo, but that's pretty unrealistic to expect I'm afraid.Something better then Archer's beagle getting killed in a transporter accident.
Off the top of my head, the Enterprise NCC-1701 is getting launched in this film I gather. When the ship leaves the dock, after you've shown the bridge crew getting underway, pan towards a port window where some VIPs are gathered together watching it leave. Among the crowd have Scott Bakula in old age make-up. Linger on him for two seconds while a tear rolls down his cheek. If the audience don't twig the importance, he's just an enthusiastic onlooker... like a tourist at Cape Kennedy watching his first Space Shuttle launch.I'm curious... What kind of reference would you (or any other ENT fan for that matter) prefer?
A Cardassian drink is heard being ordered in a bar. Some fans are scoffing at this too, because the race wasn't seen in Kirk's day. I'd argue that humans may not have run across them but there's no reason other races haven't. Starfleet get beverages transported in from all over the galaxy. They likely drink Romulan ale at a time when probably no human had set foot on Romulas. In ENT, the Orions serve drinks from the Gorn Hegemony for instance.Yeah, it might not be the most favorable of references, but beggers can't be choosers. It's probably more of a reference than DS9 or VOY will get.
Wouldn't Archer's cameo be a little too much of a stretch? IIRC, he is supposed to die before the NCC-1701 launch (IAMD?), right?Off the top of my head, the Enterprise NCC-1701 is getting launched in this film I gather. Now this is something I would love to see (hear)! One rumour I've heard is that Picard will get name checked at some point in the film.
Well how about the NX-01 moored inside a station, seen through large windows as the Uglyprise does a flyby?
It would be in the background, to the audience it would be any other random ship, and we get a quick glimpse of the ship, nice and simple. No lines of dialouge, no overt reference.
...Scotty...experimented with transporter technology and dematerialised the admiral's dog.
Scotty relates that "his attempts to experiment with transporter technology resulted in the tragic loss of the admiral's dog.
Scotty explains that his experimental beaming worked on fruit but he said "didn't turn out so well for Admiral Archer's beagle."

Seeing a picture of the NX-01 in the Captain Pike's ready room would be more than enough for me.
A nice piece of artwork of the NX-01 on someone's wall, a la Archer's ready room, would have been fine with me. I liked that touch in ST:TMP, too.

I read in the director's cut of TMP, they were thinking of adding the NX-01 to the photos of the Enterprises, but didn't. Does it make an appearance somewhere else?
