CONFIRMED! ENT referenced in Star Trek XI! *SPOILERS*

^ That's what I'm thinking. Maybe he owned at least four beagles, all named after a different Musketeer. :p

From "A Night In Sickbay"

ARCHER: "An old girlfriend's mother had this Beagle I was crazy about. Even after her daughter and I broke up, we stayed in touch. When the dog got pregnant, I was the first one she called. Four males in the litter. The four musketeers. I've had Porthos since he was six weeks old. I grew up with dogs. Can't remember not having one."

So it's safe to assume that Archer had tons of dogs after Porhos...

Re: CONFIRMED! ENT referenced in Star Trek XI!

A large part of Star Trek XI or possibly the entire film seems to take place in an alternate timeline anyway, so there should not be any continuity violations.

That would be a good way of explaining any changes JJ Abrams makes to the original Star Trek world.

Is Archer alive? Will we see him?
From what I understand about the Star Trek world, Archer is there for the launch of Enterprise, but dies shortly thereafter.

No Archer in the IMDB list of the cast, but Nimoy/Old Spock is, so we know he makes at least a brief visit.

Re: CONFIRMED! ENT referenced in Star Trek XI!

As someone who was never a big fan of Enterprise and Archer in particular, I still think the beagle reference is in bad taste to Archer, the dog, and of course Scotty.

Personally I'm certain it's not Porthos. I would say that Archer took up beagle breeding in his retirement given his apparent fondness for them. Somehow I don't even think the 'Admiral Archer' in question is Jonathan, more likely his son. If VGR's 'In the Flesh' is to be taken into account, the 'Valerie Archer' character presented there could have been an intentional foreshadowing reference to the coming Enterprise character and could imply a long lineage of Archers in Starfleet.
