Reading over this concept idea again, a few thoughts sprung to mind, so I thought I'd pull them together and devise a cast that would allow for a wide net to be cast for stories and plot elements:

Fleet Admiral Reiko Nogura, 75, is the matriarch of the family and a high-ranking, highly regarded member of the Starfleet brass. Known for her steely manner and decisive actions, some of her exploits as a starship captain are now required reading at the Academy. She was married to Matthew Keller, six years ago he volunteered with a humanitarian organisation to help refugees from the Dominion War but his transport was ambushed by Cardassians and destroyed with over four hundred people onboard. The loss hit her hard, but she has come to terms with her loss and dedicated herself to doing all she can to foster peace—some cynics see that as her trying to manoeuvre herself into politics once she retires from active service.

Captain Helena Nogura, 50, is Reiko’s oldest daughter and twin sister of Bryce. Like her mother, she is a steadfast and honourable officer in the fleet, commanding the U.S.S. Columbia she has seen a lot over her time in uniform but holds tight to her desire to explore and see the true wonders of the universe. She is married to Professor Lythen Anayx, a Betazoid anthropologist and archaeologist, and has three children, Hiro, Eivan and Dalia.

Professor Lythen Anayx, 61, is the husband of Helena. He would rather be in the field than stuck in an office or classroom, though if it weren’t for the latter he would never have met his future wife (he was a guest instructor from the University of Betazed when she was a cadet at Starfleet Academy). Even today, he spends more time at digs than he does anywhere else, which can make him a tricky man to pin down.

Lieutenant Hiro Nogura, 26, is the eldest son of Helena and Lythen, and Reiko’s eldest grandson (he is named for her father). He has placed a great weight upon himself, wanting to measure up to the legacy of his great-grandfather, grandmother and mother, which has seen him become something of an over-achiever, currently serving as Chief Security/Tactical Officer onboard the U.S.S. Intrepid.

Ensign Eivan Nogura-Anayx, 24, is the youngest son of Helena and Lythen. Though he followed the family tradition, he took a page from his father’s book by becoming a Sociology and Xenology Officer, wanting to do something he loved for its own purpose and not as a means of gaining advancement, currently serving on the U.S.S. Orpheus. He is married to, Ensign Tinis Zyn, a Bolian Ops Officer.

Ensign Tinis Zyn, 24, is the wife of Eivan. She was a classmate of Eivan who happened to be assigned to the same ship after graduation, which is where their romance developed. From a mining family, she knows all about hard work and believes that to get anything from life you have to go after it yourself. She serves as Relief Operations Officer on the U.S.S. Orpheus.

Cadet Dalia Nogura, 20, is the only daughter of Helena and Lythen. Like her older brothers she joined Starfleet, though has her heart set on becoming a Doctor. Very intelligent she isn’t as outgoing as her siblings, being more of an introvert she prefers to let her actions do the talking. Having grown up far from Earth she doesn’t feel much of a connection to her ancestral homeworld.

Bryce Keller, 50, is Reiko’s oldest son and twin brother of Helena. He went against the family and opted to not join Starfleet, instead he became a reporter with the Federation News Service—a move that has made him a little unpopular with some of his family. He is as dogged and stubborn as his mother, which has benefitted him greatly in his career as once he has the whiff of a story he doesn’t back down. He is married to Envoy Kovaal, a Vulcan in the Federation Diplomatic Corps.

Envoy Kovaal, 77, is the husband of Bryce. A patient and considerate man, he uses logic and reason to his advantage in negotiating treaties. Though doing the work that his parents wanted him to his choice in mate, however, has seen a rift in the family that hasn’t fully healed. Despite his resolve and impassive manner, he does care deeply for Bryce even if those on the outside may not see it.

Captain Daisuke Nogura, 45, is Reiko’s third child and youngest son. The war left a lasting impression on him, giving him a hard edge and coldness that hasn’t shifted in the years since—a change that resulted in his divorce. Very much the pragmatist, he commands the U.S.S. Shran in a very ordered and disciplined manner and has earned a reputation for his strategic thinking and tactical combat. He was married to Captain Vanessa Zhou, and has three children, Ayane, Jennifer and Kazuo.

Captain Vanessa Zhou, 46, is the ex-wife of Daisuke. Hardworking and fastidious, she likes to be methodical and organised, traits that have earned her a good reputation as captain of the freighter Tianlong. She and Daisuke divorced not long after the Dominion War, she saw how it had changed him and found that he was no longer the man she had married.

Ensign Ayane Nogura, 22, is the oldest daughter of Daisuke and Vanessa. Very much her father’s daughter, she wanted nothing more than to be in Starfleet. She sailed through the Academy, putting the technical skills she’d learned onboard her mother’s freighter to good use. Graduating first in her class, she was quickly taken on by the S.C.E. as a research and development engineer.

Jennifer Zhou, 20, is the youngest daughter of Daisuke and Vanessa. She went to the Academy, but dropped out after only a year finding the hero worship of her family name to be off-putting and wanting to make it on her own. Not wanting to face her family she headed out on her own and drifts from place to place, taking on whatever work she can find, unfortunately not all of it is completely legal.

Kazuo Zhou, 16, is the only son of Daisuke and Vanessa. Due to the turbulent times when he was younger, he didn’t see much of his father, as such never felt that close to him so after the divorce he remained on the Tianlong with his mother. He never had the same urge to join Starfleet like his sisters but instead signed up to his mothers’ crew as a deckhand.

Commander Mai Keller, 41, is Reiko’s fourth child and youngest daughter. Though from a very prestigious family, not many know of her seeing as how she serves Starfleet as an intelligence Officer. Much of her career is highly classified; as such, she doesn’t have much contact with her family, though she would do anything for them if asked. Private and reserved, she has a level of discipline that many Vulcans would be envious of.
