Computer Voice- TMP vs TWOK

I agree, and as such, it's really like there's no "favorite" version of TMP for me. It's a lot like Close Encounters and Blade Runner. Each version has things I like and things I don't. It's very frustrating.

I think I'd say that if I could get the improved character elements of the SLV, the new special fx and sound mix (minus the changes you mentioned) of the DE and the quality / resolution of the Theatrical BR, I'd be happy.

Yeah that would be my ultimate version of the movie.

One little computer voice related thing in TWOK I only noticed recently is just after Kirk has toured the engine room and comes onto the bridge, if you listen to the background voices you can hear someone saying "Pre-stage flux chillers port" and the reply of "On", then "Pre-stage flux chillers starboard" and another reply of "On", etc.

This seems to be the same background dialogue heard in TMP when Kirk goes to engineering to demote Decker, except it's a human sounding voice replying in TWOK rather than the computer voice from TMP. Did they re-record this dialogue for TWOK or could it be the computer voice from TMP but without the processing used to make it sound more robotic?

Pretty sure it's either a rerecording or an alternate version left over from TMP.
