Coming in 4K - Star Trek's 1-IV??

https://thedigitalbits.com/columns/my-two-cents/062122-1445

Looks like all the films (1-6) will be getting individual releases in addition to the boxed set with 1-6 for those that passed last year.

Excellent. I intend buying the TMP DE on it's own (as I'm assuming it won't be part of the box set and will be a 4k release of the theatrical) so further individual releases suit me. Plus I won't have to drop a big sum all at once on a box set.

I’ll pick up V and VI, and possibly the TMP-DE depending on what comes with it.

I have II thru IV, I will get TMP, V & VI all despite not having a 4k HDR set. But that will be it, the absolute LAST time I buy these films.

To be fair, I'm not sure there's much technical ground to be gained after HDR and... whatever the current fancy-pants audio is. At least until they regenerate them as immersive holograms or something.

I'll forgive Meyer removing Spock's hilariously exasperated "Fascinating" from the TWOK director's cut if the mind-meld flashbacks are walked back on TUC.

(Actually, now that I'm ripping all my discs for Plex, I could take the sound mix from the TWOK DVD and put it on the 4K version. I lost that DVD in my last move, but I could get it through Netflix...)

The only 3 4K ST movies left for me to buy are: TMP DE, VI & FC. Everything else are not really something I want to rewatch on a regular basis…Maybe I might get 09 4K if I am crazy enough some day.

Except for the TMP DE they did NOT upgrade the 7.1 to Atmos on Treks 2-6, so they are officially done redoing the sound.
You can't sync the TWOK DVD with the 4K disc because the formats are different.
The DVD DC of is 116m 22s and the UHD (or Blu-ray) is 116m 31s -- of the exact same cut.

I'm gonna get them all, but the main reason for that is I've skipped all the blu ray releases for the all the Trek films (bar the Kelvin trilogy) so these will not only be a decent upgrade (especially TMP) I'm also not triple dipping and they will be my final purchases of these films on disc.

Yeah I never bothered with the Blu-rays because they looked so poor and didn't offer the extended cuts of TWOK and TUC.

I'm happy to spring for them one last time now they've seemingly got it right.

Yeah these releases are exactly what I'm looking for - it's great that we have the option of purchasing them individually or in a set. I'm really looking forward to watching them on my new 4k TV, especially TMP and TWOK.

Hello does anyone know if they are releasing the 1-6 4k movie set in the UK? If this is being discussed elsewhere could you point me in the right direction. Many thanks Jon
