Comic Book Collecting.

The newest Marvel crossover is actually saving me money as I'm not buying any of the crossover stuff at all. The only reason I'm even buying the main event is that it's the culmination of a story I've been following for three years.

Hickman's Avengers has been transcendent.

I only stumbled across the fact that Thorr was a typo that made it to print in the first issue of Thor (Journey into Mystery #83) a week ago in the new Eltingville series which is a coordinance or terrible thoughts distributed into a disturbing order.

Oh, speaking of poorly written cross-overs , money grabbing schemes and other vile gimmicks used by the comic book industry...

Didn't they kill someone off recently? Was it Spiderman? Or someone else?

Sorry, did I say "kill"?

I meant who did they NOT kill? If you know what I mean.

Does anyone even pay attention anymore when the comic book industry says they're "killing someone off"?

Well they "killed" Peter Parker a few years ago, when Doc Ock took over his body and pretended to be Spider-Man for 30 miserable, unbearable issues. Then of course Pete's conscousness resurfaced and took over his body again, and they restarted Amazing Spider-Man at issue 1.

Are the series that are continuing on from where they left off pre-Secret Wars, like Ms. Marvel and Howard the Duck, all going to be renumber afterwards or will they just pick up the numbering where they left off?

They're renumbering. Howard the Duck even made fun of it, joking that in the new #1...Howard gets a new hat  The howard writers are basically acknowledging that its stupid to have a new #1 so soon. Basically, they're all getting #1's, but some books (like Howard) aren't restarting, they're just continuing exactly where the story left off in the last issue.

They killed Wolverine, too, and in a sneaky way, he's staying dead!

Their replacement? Old Man Logan and X-23. But 616 version died and I really think, because of the replacements, he's dead-dead.

And Parker never died, really, but those were the best Spider-Man issues I've read since the 80's! Or Amazing 400.

I haven't read the comics, but I thought Wolverine was
just coated in some kind of metal, like adamantium or vibranium or something. If that is the case, I doubt they'll leave him trapped in their forever.

Why not? They're having their cake AND eating it too.
They can have Wolverine dead, and they just brought in a new one from a different universe so they can still tell Wolverine stories between him and X-23.

There's no loss here.

Like how they have young Jean Grey running around. You can keep the old one dead, still tell THOSE stories surrounding the impact of her dying, while being able to tell new stories with the young version keeping her copyright going strong!

Speaking of, Old Man Logan is going to meet up with young Jean after Secret Wars. That's just weird.

Oh sure, they'll probably leave him in his current state for a while, possibly for a few years, but I doubt 616 Logan/Wolverine will never be back.

Yeah, Old Man Logan isn't as popular as Wolverine, and he's definitely not a replacement. Normal, 616 Wolverine will be back. Just like Thor will take his name and hammer back, Steve rogers will regain his youth and take back his shield, etc.

Except current Logan wasn't the Wolverine anybody wants to read anymore. He's a tame school teacher who lost all of his edge.

Old Man Logan is the Wolverine people would rather read.

Your examples are a bit off as well. Steve Rogers isn't Captain America now, but he will be. Thor doesn't have the hammer, but he will.
Old man Logan is still Logan. He has his claws and his healing factor and he's still Wolverine. They have the character people want to see again. As opposed to the bore he became in the team books of late.

Or are we still waiting for Mar-Vell to return as well?

"Avengers Disembled" was the straw that made me quit cold turkey. I think I only read the first issue of it. I really objected to the deaths of Hawkeye and Vision. At that point, it was a long drive to go to the comics store. One of the last comics I read was a miniseries by Jim Starlin in which Death told Thanos that Steve Engelhard broke the marvel universe when he brough Wonder Man back to life.

Didn't skip a beat.

Disassembled lead into New Avengers.

They got rid of Jack of Hearts and replaced him with Wolverine and Spider-Man.

SQUEE!

Iron Man the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

"Yes, I know I'm acting like Stalin, trying to gain absolute power and total inforomation, but I'm a good guy, you can trust me with ultimate power and absolute information. it's not like I'm going to unmask Spider-Man on national TV."

And then, Norman Osborn is the next director of S.H.I.E.L.D. ready to play with all of Tony's toys.

Buy harder, buy more!

Whose to say people don't want teacher (but still bad ass ) Wolverine? He's certainly better than Old Man Logan, that depressing, generic old tough guy. 616 Wolverine wasn't killed off because people didn't like his character growth, and he could still be bad ass. He was just slightly less two dimensional than he used to be. He is also totally different than the extremely bland Mar-Vell. 616 Logan will be back, and probably sooner than later. It might take a year or two, but he'll definitely be back.

Hell, Old Man Logan might be how they bring back 616 Logan. Kitty can phase him out of the adamantium, and they can inject some of OML's non brood virus infected blood into 616 Logan and kick start his healing factor.

Teenage Iron Man is still here.

Franklin stapled an adult personality on top of that dumb punk, and puffed him up until he looked 35, but it's still just a 19 year old kid with a superimposed avatar of what a 4 and a 1/2 year old Franklin Richard's thinks that Tony Stark is like.

Of course since then, Stark's deleted his brain and used a savepoint kept offsite, it's just a question of if the back up of his brain was the real Tony Stark or if it's still Franklin's impression of Tony Stark from Heroes Reborn again.
