Comet TV

Many of us are changing over to what is called OTA (Terrestrial Television). That's where you've "cut the cable", and are watching TV via an Antenna. Many channels to watch, and it's FREE, after a moderate install of an Antenna and Coax (usually under $100) a one time charge.

I've noticed a new channel show up on my scans called Comet. It's the free version of SiFi, and for the present I haven't seen much Trek on it. However, it regularly shows SGU, SG1 and a lot of older movies/series related to that genera. Once they get a few sponsors under their belt, I can see them putting a lot of popular stuff on their channel for us.

Just thought I'd mention it.

Here's a link to their home page, where you can lookup their program lineup via your location.

It's available on Comcast here but the picture quality isn't so great. It's standard def shows on high def cable so it comes out a bit odd-looking.

I recently discovered Comet in the upper reaches of my cable package and have been enjoying it. My one complaint is that they tend to be a bit overly prudish when it comes to nudity and are very quick on the "blur" button. Once they even blurred any nude paintings in a scene set in an art gallery . . . :)

(And given that the movie came out in 1966, I have to imagine that the paintings weren't all that shocking.)

I heard they were going to air THE SHOUT with Alan Bates and John Hurt. Either I just missed it or they pushed it back. I doubt it's on DVD.

It's aired at least once, but they tend to run the same movies over and over again, so . ...

Sounds good but it's not in my area yet.

That can happen but just in case someone missed it...
One has to scroll down to the bottom of the opening page, and type his ZipCode into the cell.
Also, one has to watch the Date above the Columns. The page shows past programing as well.

On July 4th, after the fireworks at midnight they are showing a movie called Gorath which I don't think I've ever heard of. It's an old Japanese film about trying to divert a planetoid on a crash course for Earth, sounds interesting.

For sure, I so like seeing older stuff that hasn't been seen before.
And, I see that they have changed the website format a bit...
Showing a daily html schedule now, instead of the .txt weekly as before.
It looks nice, but, I liked seeing the extended one, where I could set my recorder.
I can't really depend on being there, during prime time,
O well.

At one time, Terrestrial TV (OTA) was really bad. But in the past couple years, it has become a real challenge to having Cable/Sat services. 90% of what I watch/record is on OTA. The national channels (CBS/NBC/ABC) have finally realized and started doing their own productions. Rosewood, NCIS' and many others which have become very popular. They (nationals) are making a direct concerted effort to grab the market back. A channel like Comet is just the icing on the cake.

Let me add, and this is NOT spam...
Some of you may not have, or, have let your Antenna system go untended. Some very good advice is offered free of charge for replacement/repair of that system. Please visit the link below if you would like free pro-advice about it.
