Come on People (Tyler Perry)

Re: Come on People

Sigh. I told my dad not to post that picture. :(

Don't really care, don't know why I even entered this thread, don't know why I even replied , could give two shit's less about Tyler Perry.

I really don't like Tyler Perry and I try to avoid his movies like the plague, but c'mon, Abrams has the right and power to cast whoever he damn well pleases. And Perry's cameo is so minuscule that it seems silly to complain about.

I see no problem with Perry in it. I was familiar with his work, yes, and I thought, hm, that's neat, and was curious if he had any personal interest as far as Trek, but as for that, from what I believe I read, he didn't sound over the moon excited, or the polar opposite. As some have alluded, it was a role, and maybe that's how he saw it, a brief little tidbit, something different to do....

who really thinks Tyler Perry should have been in Star TRek I mean really. I cant take him seriuously Brad Pitt would of did a better Job

What r your idea's

I wasn't too bothered by it, but I just thought it was bizarre. I mean, he said he didn't even really like/watch the past Trek shows or movies. So why give him a part if he's not even a fan? Kinda strange...

Ummm. Because being a fan of something isn't a requirment to be in a movie for five minutes and have a handful of lines?

As for Tyler Perry, I could take or leave him. I do find it odd that he put his name on the movie he had come out a little while ago (as if he was a household name and people would snap to see his movie because his name was in the title. Seriously? Who titles a movie as "xxx's yyyy"?) It was also odd that it looked like a somewhat serious/dramatic rommance movie or something yet it had Perry in it in drag as an old woman. ??

At first I heard Madea was in it and I said "Whut?" Then I heard the butt-dwarf from X-Files was in it and I said "Ewww." Finally, I heard a bunch of people from Alias were in it and I said "Squee!"

As you can see, the build-up to this movie was a daily roller-coaster ride of confusion and emotion, so I took a Prozac and realized none of those people and their bit roles really meant anything to me after all and I should save those concerns for really important issues of heresy against doctrine like building the Enterprise in friggin' Iowa.

I liked him. His performance was workmanlike. It had no other purpose than to move the storyline from transition A to transition B.

Oh, and for those who don't know who he is, he's Admiral Barnett from the scene involving Kirk's actions in the Kobayashi Maru:

Firstly, who the feth is Tyler Perry anyway?
And secondly, not providing income to Brad Pitt is one of the few positive things i can say about J.J Abrams.

If you weren't told Tyler Perry was in the movie then you wouldn't of notice if was a small role and it was done well.

"Imagine me in drag playing a elderly woman in a drama. There, I've now non-surgically castrated you."

Re: Come on People

I didn't know who Perry was, so it didn't bother me.

I can see, though, how if I was very familiar with his work, it would "kick me out of the movie." Like if it had been a piece of crap, one-note-Nancy like Danny DeVito or someone.

Joe, anti-Danny
