I just saw the season/series finale. Dang. So many unanswered questions. It does seem like the Raps are protecting humans and the other aliens are set on destroying us. Although, the reality is probably that neither alien race cares about humans but that we're a pawn in their larger game. As long as we help the Raps, they will protect us and the others will attack us. But, if humans can get a better deal from the other side . . .

Well, we'll never know.

I didn't like the family drama that is being interjected. The conflict between Brahm and his parents was just too soapy. Same with the conflict between Will and Kate, but they seem to have gotten through that.

If the producers had planned for several more seasons, maybe we'll at least hear what their overall plan was?

In the end, the show took just too long to develop. The producers didn't seem to understand how serialized storytelling works. S1 was fairly decent and made some progress. S2 however was a step backwards outside of the family leaving LA. Forward momentum was lost and I think that's what ultimately killed the series. Had S3 followed S1, the show might still be around. S3 has been pretty good about moving things forward. You could ditch most of S2 and not lose a thing, which is telling.

I think the first two seasons suffered a lot from how big of a role Katie's sister had. In and of itself, watching someone strategically position herself into a role of power to save herself and her son only to find out she picked the wrong side in the bitter end was interesting, but it took too much away from the A-plot whenever she didn't have any direct involvement with the main characters, especially when they just killed her off and her entire storyline disappeared for season 3.

I guess i am confused with the enemy... what was the deal with the testing ground where the new aliens were going Predator on a couple of test subjects. Was that Kinds deal with the new aliens?
Or somehow independent of humans?

And with Will being targeted by the Raps to stay alive so he can be one of their soldiers... seems weird how the drones would purposely not kill him...like how would he know to join the Raps Special Forces?

Would have been interesting to find out exactky how (or even when) the Raps started infilitrating Earth...and how they did it?

I mean, i know we saw how the initial governors were recruited, and why Kinds saw they were twisting his creation, so he wisely set up an alternative...just wondering what that rebellion truly entailed, in addition to what we saw.

Were they, though? Except for the two soldiers killed by some invisible foe, which might not have been the enemy, the only humans we saw attacked by the enemy were IGA officials working with the Raps.

And as for those two soldiers, we don't know if the enemy killed them. Maybe it was a cloaked Rap as part of a field test. Is the enemy naturally invisible or was that tech?

Yeah..it is confusing...was that a captured Enemy Alien that the Raps are using to test their soldiers (who don't seem to be as good as they hoped)? Or are the Enemies testing humans to look for weaknesses.

I am qondering with earth so easily taken, how to the Enemies have an advantage over the Raps?

It seems clear that the humans are the pawns that get caught in the crossfire. If they're helping the Raps, they'll be targets for the other aliens. But, it's possible they could work for the other side too. I get the sense that neither species cares about the humans, they're just resources to use. I wonder what the producers had in mind?

Actually there was a scene in this middle of this season, when they were trying to make their way through the backroads to Seattle, where they had trouble finding a car that worked, and they mentioned that the gas had gone bad and they needed to find a diesel because that fuel lasted longer. No need to mention a refinery just like they never mentioned all the other stuff that obviously still worked just fine under the Rap/IGA control. People in the blocks still had jobs to do. What was left of society and civilization still functioned.

I wonder what the producers had in mind?

Safe to assume it involved a bunch of drama for Will and Katie. And Bram. In the end, flip a coin and that was the right side to be on. (Or just as likely, neither side.)

Best character was always Snyder.

I agree that Snyder is a great character, and they really used his strengths the most effectively this season. However, without the grounding that Will, Kate, and family provided, the series wouldn't have worked.

The biggest problem this series had was the glacial pace for the first two seasons. Season 2 in particular.

I'd imagine the most likely scenario would be the humans finding a way to pit the two species against each other in a situation that knocks both out.

Ah, thanks for the reminder about the diesel.

I expected at first that Bowman would end up fighting against Braham in a firefight since they were on opposite sides. Then Bowman volunteered for the Rap army, so... Shrug

^ Yeah, they pulled their punches on that one. But, it's just as well. The drama with Brahm was too soapy. The less of that the better!
